We liked the place and the food.

Nice little place in downtown McGregor across the street from where we stayed. Had a nice sandwich we both really liked (but it turned out not to be the ones we ordered). Good selection of beer, but apparently they weren't brewing their own anymore. Beers were $4.50, the sandwiches $9 and came... read more

Went on a Saturday night. The place was about 10% full and I now know why. They had 4 or 5 "Dinners" on a specials board. The menu was burgers or sandwiches, no full meals. I asked about the prices of two items on the specials board (no prices were listed). $28 for a surf and turf; $24 for a... More

I heard a lot of good things about this place. Website says open on Wednesday nights but today is Wednesday and they were not open. Please update your open hours schedule to reflect any changes. Disappointed to day the least.

Ate here while on a fishing trip with three other guys. Everyone agreed that the burgers were excellent (way above your average bar burger).., very reasonable an excellent selection of craft beers to choose from. Prices were good also, very reasonable.

I ate here once during the slow hours of the afternoon. The place has really nice brew pub decor and the food was really good.

We were searching for a spot for a mid afternoon lunch. Not familiar with the area, we chose Old Man River Restaurant and Brewery, near the Mississippi River. Wow! what a find! It appears to be a refurbished warehouse type building with beautiful woodwork and floors, large space, very fresh and clean. We started with a tasty wheat beer, followed... More

We were staying across the street at McGregor's Landing and saw the "brewery" from our room. We had good beer and some snacks...fried pickles and loaded potatoes. Everything was great, including the service and the atmosphere. Will definitely stop on our next trip through!

We went to dinner here a couple weeks ago. There was hardly anyone there so we had very attentive staff. We had four entrees: Encrusted walleye did not have much flavor but was done perfectly, a bit of crunch on the outside and flaky inside. Pasta dish with meatballs was a huge portion and very tasty, half of it went... More

I love this place's grilled cheese sandwiches. With tomato. And sweet potato fries. Artery-hardening, but blissful comfort food. I should add that you don't have to eat that way at Old Man River, but, well, I did. It's wonderful to see in one of this restaurant's huge windows and watch the deer on the bluff above the downtown area. P.S.... More

We visit McGregor, Iowa at least once a year, and eat here every visit. We can never pass up the cheese curds and they have an awesome pulled pork bbq sandwich on a pretzel bun. Absolutely fantastic!! If you visit during the warmer months, their patio room is an excellent place to enjoy a local beer and have some great... More
