World famous taco!

This place was completely remodeled a year or two ago and is always nice a clean with a friendly staff. The taco or enchilada is always a good option, but don't order too much because the portions are huge!

First time we've been there since the remodel. Place looked clean. We couldn't figure out why it is just so noisy though. (Compared to other places of equal size, etc.) It was incredibly noisy. Our food was good, at a good price. Downside is, it took forever to arrive. We waited a long time, as did other guests. The service was... More

We stopped here late on a Tuesday night after a basketball game, even though they were closing the kitchen they still served us with a smile from the waitress to cook to Bartender. I seen in that someone reviewed they only had can pop (soda) I was offered both can or fountain. I have ate here before and it is... More

Bartenders and waitress very friendly, efficient and accommodating. Food was fresh and hot when served. Americanized Mexican and other fare offered.

This is the best food that you could ever ask for. Niece of the old owner i would say she did a good job by having it up in running. People might not like it, then thats them, if they want fast service then go to Mc Donald's, if you want the best food you have to be patient, they... More

We've heard we had to go here for the tacos...so we gave it a go. We started with a couple of starters and drinks. Obie's has a full bar and offers sodas by the can. The starters are the fried variety from cheese balls to breaded mushrooms with everything in between. Since we were there for tacos, the whole party... More

My family went into Obie's this past weekend on our way home from Dubuque. We heard good things about the tacos so we thought we'd give it a try. The owner's wife took our orders and was VERY unfriendly. When we asked politely for her to turn up the jukebox (the sound was off) that we inserted $5 into, she... More

We were told by some local friends to stop here for some great gourmet Mexican food. We were very excited about the prospect of that experience in the middle of rural Iowa. When we arrived, the place was packed, and we needed to wait for the staff to assemble a table for our group of 9. The staff was helpful... More

We stopped in for a late lunch as the place was recommended by our friends and the docent at the Hurstville Interpretive Center. Perhaps the hype from so many natives set our expectations too high. The Taco shell was greasy and tough. The filling was cooked ground beef ["Maid Rite"/sloppy joe style] shredded lettuce, chopped tomato and a white cheese... More
