The Green Dragon dates from the 15th century. It was originally premises for a wheelwright and a coffin maker, then became a beer house some 200 years ago. Set in a delightful rural setting, the pub overlooks a stream which is spanned by a humped-backed bridge. During the summer months ponies and donkeys can be seen shading on the forecourt of the Inn. The Pub displays a number of 'bends' of leather, which bear imprints of hot iron brands. These brands represent owners of animals who have commoners rights to allow their livestock to graze on New Forest Land. To the rear of the pub is a small patio area that leads to our garden, which is a wonderful place to sit and relax in the summer. Why not come in and enjoy a pint of one of our four cask ales? These ales change all the time so keep an eye out for your favourites. We are a dog friendly pub although we do ask that you keep them on leads at all times. We do not allow dogs in the restaurant, this keeps one part of the pub a dog free area.

So many friends have told us how good this pub is and at last we went there yesterday for lunch . There were 4 of us and we all enjoyed our meals. Roll on the next time!

First time visiting this pub as part of a big group celebrating a birthday. It was very busy so I would recommend booking (Sunday lunch). Although there is a well laid our car park it was full when we arrived at 1pm. Dogs are welcome. We were a party of about 20 and were accommodated in an area of the... More

Visited recently - very disappointed. It's another of these highly priced food pubs which thinks it's a restaurant but is incapable of acting like one. Frozen chips, order at the bar, unable to provide egg and chips for a vegetarian who couldn't eat the veggie options. Used to go often but feel its success with the Sunday lunch brigade has... More

Had a lunch time beer and decided to give the restaurant a try in the evening. Glad we did, the steaks were wonderful, cooked to perfection. I wish we had had more time to try more dishes from the menu.

Just on the edge of the New Forest, close to J1 of the M27. Great choice of good food at reasonable choices, including a specials board. Warm atmosphere and very helpful staff. Worth a visit if you are hungry or simply for a drink. Lovely gardens to eat in when the weather is warmer.

This pub has the best pub food I have ever eaten. The menu is very long and the choice is amazing. All of the food is home cooked and delicious, just as pub food should be. There is no sign of a deep fat fryer or microwave either. Service is fantastic but book at peak time because it is always... More

We were on a day trip to do some walking in the forest and parked at Fritham. We had a walk in the morning and decided to treat ourselves to a Sunday lunch before taking another walk in the afternoon. Trouble was that the only pub in Fritham serves snacks not meals. We remembered we had driven past a couple... More

It is getting difficult to find a pub to which you can take aged parents who quickly object to too much noise/loud music, uncomfortable 'trendy' seating and the more spartan ambience that many of the refurbished 'gastro pubs' seem to go for. But the Green Dragon ticked all the right boxes with a great (but not deafening) atmosphere, comfortable seating... More
