The Green Dragon dates from the 15th century. It was originally premises for a wheelwright and a coffin maker, then became a beer house some 200 years ago. Set in a delightful rural setting, the pub overlooks a stream which is spanned by a humped-backed bridge. During the summer months ponies and donkeys can be seen shading on the forecourt of the Inn. The Pub displays a number of 'bends' of leather, which bear imprints of hot iron brands. These brands represent owners of animals who have commoners rights to allow their livestock to graze on New Forest Land. To the rear of the pub is a small patio area that leads to our garden, which is a wonderful place to sit and relax in the summer. Why not come in and enjoy a pint of one of our four cask ales? These ales change all the time so keep an eye out for your favourites. We are a dog friendly pub although we do ask that you keep them on leads at all times. We do not allow dogs in the restaurant, this keeps one part of the pub a dog free area.

Rustic Traditional Pub Grub

We chose this venue over and above the adjacent "Bell Inn" as it appeared to have more character and on the whole we were not disappointed. The décor was rustic and in keeping, and as well as the standard menu a "specials board" offered 2 -3 additional starters and main courses, so plenty of choice... read more

Excellent food, I suppose a tad more expensive than many pubs, but well worth the price. I had the lambs liver and mash which was extremely tasty and the staff were helpful and attentive. Gorgeous setting, particularly on a Summer evening, and no problems with parking.

After a very wet morning packing up our tent we needed a warm place to sit and a hot meal. We arrived before the pub opened but they welcomed is in and we enjoyed hot drinks before asking if the had space for lunch. They managed to squeeze us in early and we enjoyed a very good meal. Big portions,... More

Was concerned when I looked at other reviews on here that had been negative, however myself and my husband and another couple visited here this Thursday night. Thank goodness we had booked as the place was packed! We had 3 starters, 4 main courses, a dessert and a cheese board. Consumed with a bottle of Shiraz, a glass of white... More

Used to pop in here when visiting the New Forest but haven't been for a while and won't bother again. Lunches overpriced, and food decidedly average. We had ham sandwiches - ham was very tasty but not a lot of it! Supermarket sliced bread spread with margarine was inedible. I asked for if they could make another with plain bread... More

We have established this well-run Pub as a regular family- Friends venue. Dog friendly, excellent range of beers, and a 'specials' board of good variety, supplying well cooked and presented food at reasonable prices

Warm welcome from friendly staff who welcomed us in for dinner with our dog in tow. Well stocked bar with good selection of beers. The beef stroganoff and steak and kidney pie were both excellent and the prices were low for the quality on offer. Stand out feature was the roast potatoes served with the pie which were outstanding. Will... More

We have enjoyed two weekday lunches at the Green Dragon over the past month. The staff were cheerful, friendly, helpful and courteous and the food was excellent on both occasions. The sunny weather enabled us to eat in the tranquil garden where the food was served promptly and efficiently. If you want a relaxed, enjoyable lunch in the New Forest... More
