The Green Dragon dates from the 15th century. It was originally premises for a wheelwright and a coffin maker, then became a beer house some 200 years ago. Set in a delightful rural setting, the pub overlooks a stream which is spanned by a humped-backed bridge. During the summer months ponies and donkeys can be seen shading on the forecourt of the Inn. The Pub displays a number of 'bends' of leather, which bear imprints of hot iron brands. These brands represent owners of animals who have commoners rights to allow their livestock to graze on New Forest Land. To the rear of the pub is a small patio area that leads to our garden, which is a wonderful place to sit and relax in the summer. Why not come in and enjoy a pint of one of our four cask ales? These ales change all the time so keep an eye out for your favourites. We are a dog friendly pub although we do ask that you keep them on leads at all times. We do not allow dogs in the restaurant, this keeps one part of the pub a dog free area.

Busy but efficient

Having lived in the area for over 45 years this was the first meal here! The garden and bar/restaurant were all busy, on a lovely sunny day just after Easter. The staff were efficient and pleasant, and despite being busy they were helpful without rushing around being flustered! The food was varied... read more

We have stopped here for lunch on more than one occasion when heading to down to the Dorset area as we know we will get good food at a reasonable price. This time my husband had the cheese ploughman's and I had the continental meat and cheese platter and both had very good portions of cheese! We usually arrive in... More

This is a really good and busy pub in a beautiful location. Excellent selection of ales a good menu and friendly staff. Sunday lunch was very good. Unusually these days it was good to see the landlord and landlady on the shop floor talking to customers and managing things. Will definitely visit again.

We had lunch here on Good Friday and were VERY impressed by how good the food was at the Green Dragon. Locally sourced Fish and Game, fabulous home cured Ham. Quantity of food - huge. Clearly freshly cooked. The friendly staff have created a warm and welcoming atmosphere in a beautiful old pub with lots of nooks and crannies. A... More

Have eaten hear about 3 times now and every time the food and service has been excellent. For me this is what pub food should be like. Not trying to be a gastro pub and nothing pretentious. Just good honest food at realistic price. Five of us ate and had a variety of food. We ate Lamb Shank, Chicken New... More

Visited here by recommendation, glad we did, very welcoming and great atmosphere. Booked a table for a birthday treat, arrived half an hour early but was not a problem. A reasonable menu but a fantastic specials board, very impressed. If looking for something negative, drop the frozen chips and Aunt Bessie type frozen roast potatoes that's the only thing that... We met up with some friends for a midweek lunch recently, and had a lovely time. For midweek in March, the pub was very busy, with a great atmosphere. The food was delicious, from a generally pub food menu, and the service was friendly and efficient. Be warned though, and this is neither complaint nor criticism, the Green Dragon operates... More

Mother's Day treat. Service was very quick and friendly. Food was hot and substantial. Alternative to the menu was not a problem. It was our first visit and am sure we will be returning again.
