We went there with our son for his birthday and we had the best time and the food was assume. Everything was done to perfection. I would give Oyama Sushi a big thumbs up great place..

Sat for over an hour waiting for food before a waitress, who wasn't even ours, noticed we didn't have our food. Our order had obviously been misplaced, which happens. But I asked the waitress to then cancel our order if it was not being made because we had a movie at 7:30 (it was already after 7:15) but instead I... More

It's pricey, but you taste every cent. Get the Bento plate--nice sampler. And their tempura is wonderful. AND, ladies and germs, you can get anything to go--even miso. Yakisoba is great. Everything I've eaten there is superb, and their seaweed salad is Heavenly.

Great meal - it is better to go at lunch because the meal is cheaper and is just the right amount of food. The salad and fish soup are not that great - but the main dishes are amazing.

Good sushi including Uni that takes you to the ocean, plus real Japanese meals which even excite the grand children (including the Japanese soft drinks). We have never been dissapointed (except when it was too crowded).

Found this little gem while going to Iowa City for my cousins wedding. EXCELLENT sushi! I had the heaveny roll, which was unexpectidly spicey.. But delicious! My Mom also ordered the jimmy roll which she enjoyed. My fiancee who is not a sushi fan even ate a spider roll. He and my Mom's boyfriend ordered their Bento Lunch Boxes which... More

Maybe the best sushi in Iowa City. There is an impressive array of sushi houses in this small place but Oyama is among the best. The chefs work hard to create delicious rolls and you won't be disappointed if you visit here for dinner.

I've eaten at a lot of sushi restaurants. All over the United States. One of the best rolls I've ever eaten is at Oyama. It's called the Super Star roll. It's described as "Rock lobster tail tempura inside, spicy crab on the top, splashed with strawberry sauce and eel sauce". Personally, I'm not a huge fan of meat and fruit... More

Oyama has been a steady performer for years. There is a growing number of sushi bars in Iowa City, and some are quite respectable. This may be the best, with a very creative selection of specialty rolls, sinfully good (and deliciously light) tempura shrimp, and some remarkably inexpensive and delicious hibachi entrees as well (the salmon is particularly good, always... I go here more than twice a month. I have tasted almost everything there, but please do me a favor and try the Heavenly Roll... You will understand after that, why I frequent the place
