Great Shakes, Average Food

Revisited this place several years after my first visit. They have a good selection of food for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, but the real highlight is the shakes. While they are known for their pie shakes, I took advantage of Girl Scout season and had a Peanut Butter Pattie Shakes. Yum!

This place has pie shakes, people, what more do you need to know? I mean they put real pie in their milkshakes and then they shake 'em all up. You really MUST have a pie shake.

We love the Hamburg! Great diner style food, good breakfast choices, reasonable prices. It's always busy, and it is small, so if you don't 't want to wait, avoid peak times. You can also get food to go. If you eat gluten free, try the GF pie.

Nothing fancy but always good. One of the best breakfast spots in Iowa City. Great shakes too! You may even get lucky and see a National politician!

Excellent food at reasonable price in a quirky setting near campus. Great for young and old. An original diner that has been around for decades.

A great historical landmark with great food. Iowa City people love their Hamburg Inn. Very small. Plan to wait in line, especially for breakfast.

Always a busy place. Great breakfast location! Service is awesome and worth the wait. Recommend the sweet potato pancakes and the omelettes.

This is a landmark in Iowa City. A place where you can find writers, politicians, presidencial candidates. The food is good for dinner food but it is the reason you should not miss this place.

Best breakfast ever!!! Need I say more? The Hawkeye Hog omelette is to die for and if you have room try a pie shake. Mmmmmmmm!!!
