we tried it. We weren't hip enough, wan, or into sallow tallow as the waitresses veins blue through her skin. Here, darling. Gnosh on some nice pastrami and kosha mustud. Butter. Fat. There's a reason they call it "bulgar" wheat, because it rhymes with vulgar. One good thing, though. For some reason, vegans often make great love-partners. If they can... More

Pops is more meat lover than veggie/cheese type, so this was not really his kind of place. However, Grams loved the interesting cucumber sauce & combination of flavors in the soup & sandwich! She said it was VERY good & she is coming back with the daughters!!

VERY intentional food and it's supporters just LOVE it. Sad that the city let it go to a housing development.

Thought we'd give it a try after shopping at the Co-op, it was not good. Like the previous poster I tried the burger and it was just as they described, but with a strong taste of Spike seasoning. The ginger tea is hot water with a small piece of ginger and not very flavorful. We wanted it to be but... More

I'm not vegatarian but my husband and I like fresh vegatarian food. I had a "famous" veggie burger which was a mushy mess of beans and rice between two dense pieces of bread. I left most of it on the plate and went for coffee and dessert after.

We have been to The Red Avocado a couple times and have enjoyed each experience. It's a vegan restaurant tucked away in a cute neighborhood in an old house. Eclectic for sure, but fun. Very nice outdoor eating space as well.

Good variety, great veggies options, very fresh. I like to eat organic good when I can so it was nice to find this place.

This restaurant uses your plate as a palette to make beautiful, delicious art. All organic, local, and vegan art, at that. If you're a carnivore, don't let the word "vegan" scare you. This food is better than ANY meal you would get with animal products in it. Fresh, unique flavors, with abundant colors & so many nutrients in each meal... More

My husband and I were a little disappointed in one of our entrees but saw the creative vegetarian combinations. I would recommend the vegan rueben which was very tasty..a tad greasy but tasty. My husband had the buckwheat pancakes with mushrooms which sounded pretty safe but we both agreed that the asian creamy spread they put on the crepe was... More

Stayed one night in Iowa City. Surprised to find such a cool all vegan restaurant in a smallish city, but it was excellent! The atmosphere is charming. The menu is creative, and every thing we had was so good!
