Description: Our menu is a combination of Midwest classics and internationally...
Our menu is a combination of Midwest classics and internationally influenced new American cuisine. We serve the finest cuts of choice Iowa meats, the freshest sustainable seafood and seasonal produce from local farmers. We put in hours of preparation each day in anticipation of the evening's guests. Great food, great wine, friendly and knowledgeable service are our specialties. Our menu includes items like grilled beef tenderloin with roasted garlic mashed potatoes and pecan crusted chicken with a Dijon cream reduction and Seared Diver Scallops served with vegetable stir fried coconut rice and a grilled pineapple pico de gallo. Wine Spectator magazine has recognized our extensive wine list as one of the best in the world. Locals have voted us as the best restaurant for a "Romantic Dinner" for 19 years. We are proud that our commitment to the art of fine cuisine comes through in every appetizer, entree, and dessert we serve. We invite you to join with us in savoring the Linn Street Cafe experience!

If you are looking for a semi-private space for a special occasion, this is the restaurant for you! Frank, the owner, has the best customer focus. It was so easy to communicate with him about our needs prior to to the dinner. He put together an amazing personalized menu for my mother's 75th birthday which included 20+ adults and children.... Several years ago, I ate dinner at Linn Street Cafe. It was fine; not a gastronomic "wow," but solid. I have high expectations for meals, so this is a good thing. Then the time came to pay the bill, and the waiter lost my friend's (bright yellow) debit card, and just shrugged when we asked him about it. I swore... More

My husband & I were given a gift certificate to Linn Street Cafe for our 25th anniversary several years ago. It was a lovely, relaxing, romantic dinner! Since then we have taken his parents to Linn Street Cafe each year for their anniversary. I believe it is the best restaurant in Iowa City to celebrate a special occasion!

If you want to pay $19 or so for stuffed ravioli made with prefab egg roll skins, over aerated filling, and only ok sauce. Or $9 or so for a bowl of "Lobster" bisque made with a commercial base, too much thickener, tasting of canned tomato soup, and a little Langostino (Squat Lobster) for garnish. Or enjoy some from base... More

It's extremely disappointing to hear you haven't been impressed with our fare, especially since you identify as a kitchen professional yourself. Just to clarify, we only use the highest quality ingredients, and we pride ourselves on beautiful handmade dishes. It's surprising and disheartening to read your descriptions, as that's simply not what we serve. That said, we do always welcome... More

Linn Street Cafe has been a fixture of the local dining scene for many years. It is easy to take it for granted, but don't. The have been consistently excellent for their entire run. Most recently, they have adjusted their prices to appeal to a broader audience. No entree is listed at more that $25.00. Normally that won't get you... More

I visited Iowa City for a week while on business. This is the best restaurant I found while there. The service was solid, the ambiance nice, wine selection adequate, and the food very very good. It's continental style with a New American flair. My favorite of the night was a melon and prosciutto quesadilla with melon pico de gallo. Nice!

Love the lobster bisque soup... always a winning starter. Great food and layout/atmosphere seems to allow for a little privacy anywhere in restaurant. More formal dress. Prices are a little higher than most.

Happy to hear you're loving the lobster bisque. It is a favorite of many of our guests. Thanks for the feed back on prices, we have been working on reducing the prices on menu items. We will continue to do our best to keep the highest level of food quality at reasonable prices. All the best, Linn Street Café More

We enjoy a window side table. The food is good. The lobster bisque and their bread is excellent! Expensive! We spent $100 with no alcohol and no dessert and only one cup of coffee.
