I went for an early dinner last fall. At the time, there were no other customers; however, there were 8-10 FOH present. After waiting at my table, and observation by staff, I left. I-phones trump customers.

While visiting Iowa City for our son's orientation we happened upon the Atlas on a beautiful sunny day. Sitting outdoors in their patio area was lovely. The food was outstanding. Even the simple cup of beef veggie soup I ordered (with no great expectations) was so delicious and flavorful. We split a wrap and salad, both of which were great.... More

With friends we visited, seated in the cellar section of the 2 story restaurant. It was like a walk back in time, European, an absolutely comfortable setting to feel like we were dining in a wine cellar. The menu was diverse, tasty, and affordable. I had two glasses of their Jovino Pinot, a very smooth selection. Another friend selected Australian... More

While attending UI orientation, we stopped in for lunch and enjoyed a marvelous meal. The Parmesan Potato Soup was light and delicious. The Greek Salad was fresh with a light vinaigrette dressing. One of the specials was an Ancho Pork Taco that was amazing with a sweet and spicy finish provided by the Ancho seasoning paired with chunks of fresh... More

Today had Sunday afternoon dinner on the sidewalk patio. The filet mignon was delicious, as always, medium rare with a delectable garlic butter sauce and a pinot noir reduction. The crème brûlée continues to be #1 on my world scale, beating out every other restaurant in the US and Europe where I have eaten this wonderful dessert. The wine list... More

I'm not the only one who thinks that Atlas is one of the best in Iowa City.....every year it receives top votes as best restaurant in the city. For starters, it is centrally located downtown and near the main University of Iowa campus. The food is local & excellent....ranging from great salads, wraps, seafood & steaks. I always find it... Again we ate here twice both times for lunch. Great potato soup and ceasar salads. Some nontypical offerings. Small kitchen error at one lunch. Service was pleasant.

While sightseeing in downtown Iowa City, I strolled by Atlas World Grill and noticed the mango raspberry sorbet duo was a featured special. Thus on a whim and in need of a refreshing pick me up I stopped in. The sorbet is made in house and amazing as was my waiter, Joe. Before leaving Iowa City my husband and I... More

Stopped in last time we were in town for a friend's wedding. It's changed only a little since we'd been in college which was great! Good bar - I believe we had a newbie bartender but we didn't mind. There was a group of around 20 of us so we knew to be patient. Thanks for the memories Atlas!!!
