first a stumble, then great

One of our favorite restaurants: nice outdoor dining, good Creole and great pizzas. Our 4-17-19 stop-by got off to a rocky start as the young man tending bar seemed to be having a very bad day customer service-wise. Once we were seated on the patio, however, the service and food were very good, as... read more

Close enough (less than 1/2 mile) to walk to from hospital and football stadium. My son ordered the Melrose burger (basic burger with lettuce, tomato, cheese) and didn't like it much. My husband ordered the Burnside and found the jalapeño cream cheese, jalapeños, pepper jack cheese with chipotle mayonnaise tasty but was disappointed that the bun seemed stale and that... More

Stelllaaaa! We are addicted to this place. The burgers are beyond delicious and feature local ingredients. As if that weren't enough of a reason to give it a try, the service is always fast and friendly which helps to create a relaxed atmosphere.

Dropped in for lunch. Informal yet skilled intuitive skilled service. Food arrived promptly and hot. There was no food auction: waiter actually smart enough to remember who had what. Amazing menu with dozens of variations on a theme and a savory list of daily specials. Three of us loved every bite.

The concept is what I want in a restaurant. Urban, lively, independent, casual, but with a somewhat upscale feel. It fell short of my expectations. This is a sister restaurant of the Short's locations in Iowa City, and I think Short's burgers are excellent. There is a similarly large list of burger options here, in addition to many chicken sandwiches,... More

Stella is hit or miss. When it's great- it's awesome. When it's bad, it's an expensive mistake. The service can be spotty at best- even when it's awesome. The fries can be hand cut perfection, or a soggy mess. The tenderloin the best in the state, or a dry breaded pork chop. There's no value in the liquor menu. $18... More

This is the perfect place to go after a chilly afternoon watching the big game. The burger menu is extensive and the ones we all tried were fantastic---thick and hand made and deliciously accessorized. The atmosphere is very casual, loud, energetic---good place for a group, not a romantic tete-a-tete.

We were lucky enough to happen upon this place before the football game at the stadium which is right next door. We were happy to pay the $5 cover charge they charge on game day especially because a table on the cute patio opened up right as we walked up. They had excellent bloody mary's and a terrific, fun football... More

Its not your typical menu. They have some nice entrees but i enjoyed their black bean burger list. Since I am a vegetarian, i liked that they had several vege options. The food is tasty. And our service was great! We went with a group of 10 and they did not even add a mandatory gratuity. It shows they are... More
