Quintessential Place for a burger before a game

Came here for dinner before Illinois versus Iowa bball. They have a huge beer selection and I only found ones that I liked. Nice double IPA. I had the Jamaica burger that was delicious. Lots of rowdy Hawkeye fans made a great environment before watching Iowa put the Illini in their place. I... read more

Everyone recommends Short's and says the burgers are the best. The first time I tried the location by Kinnick and the burger was very dry and overcooked. My friend told me that her burger was also very dry and overcooked. I thought it must be a fluke so tried it again at this location. Same result - very dry burger.... More

This is really the best burger I had while living in America... The best part is to go on Mondays, because you can get any of them for $7. I would recommend Dundee for sure cause it has fried eggs on it... The place is quite small tho, so you may need to wait for a table depending on the... More

The newer location off of Scott Blvd in Iowa City gas a less congested atmosphere than the downtown location.. Many varieties of burgers and beers to choose from and the fries are great too! Prices are reasonable for the food.. On their charity nights it is super crowded, so check the week night ( usually Thursday night).

We usually go once a week and Shorts never fails to deliver a great sandwich, fries and atmosphere. Beer selection is great. Wait staff are generally spot on.

We have eaten at downtown and east side restaurants. Both are great burgers and black bean burgers with terrific fries in abundance! Such a wide variety of big juicy burgers with many different add-ons and spices galore. Great food, but burgers are about all the have.

Huge large of burgers and beers. Fries are homemade and it changes everything ! Burgers are really good and you will need more than two hands to hold them!

Had the Dundee burger. Was one of the best I have had. Perfectly juicy and flavorful. The fries we're alright, about as good as you could hope for with a single fry. Beer selection was great. Who knew iowa had so many good beers.

During a recent visit to Iowa City, my wife had a few hours to kill and went downtown to search for a bite to eat and watch the Seattle/Green Bay NFL playoff game. We landed at Shorts Burger & Shine where we sat at the bar in front of the big, flat screen TV, and enjoyed the whole game. I... More

Shorts has two locations - downtown and east side. The selection of tasty burgers is terrific. Juicy, variety of toppings, terrific fries or side wedge salad. We pick out two different burgers to split and share. Worth the wait or call ahead to go! Quick service and good food!
