found myself eating practically every meal there at salad bar or hot food bar. Always delicious, varied and reasonably priced. Friendly staff and great place to sit inside and out.

The Bread Garden is a few steps form the Sheraton Hotel and along the ped mall in downtown Iowa City. It is a great place for picking up a few groceries, beer, wine, fresh salads and soups, breads, coffee, smoothies and more. Ample number of tables for eating and chatting.

The Bread Garden is a busy place due to its large variety of choices from soups to salads to sandwiches to coffee/baked goods and selected groceries. I think another thing that makes it special is it's setting on the Ped Mall. It's a great place to relax, enjoy a meal and watch the world go by.

where else can you find a wine bar in side a grocery store that also stocks fresh food, meats, a great cheese bar, olive bar, gluten free section, an entire chocolate smorgasbord and so many local farmers supplying fresh produce on a daily basis??? Nowhere else in the entire USof A.. and I know. I lived in New York City..... More

There is something for everyone-- sweets, ice cream, beer and wine, pay for the pound buffet. Across from the new library, there are many choices to eat and sup from here at the Bread Garden Market and Bakery. Take your food outside under the covered loggia to watch the children play on the playground equipment, watch a game on the... More

When I described the utter lack of assistance my spouse and I received from the employees when trying to have a sandwich made, my boss said "yes, they are definitely elitists down there". She is absolutely correct! We won't be back

This is a combination grocery, deli, and bar with sidewalk service on the pedestrian mall. The food is good, not great, and prices are high, but it is very handy. Wine selection is superb and reasonably priced. The Rubin sandwich is very good but be sure to ask for a freshly made one or at least heat up one from... More

Handy market for groceries and prepared deli food. Smaller selection consistent with downtown markets, but they have most things you'll need. Good beer/wine selection and bread offerings since they make their own. Excellent seating area for people watching while eating.

This is a really good grocery in the Ped Mall in Iowa City. I have bought snacks and eaten here a couple of times when staying at the HotelVetro. They have a nice selection of fresh food and a great breakfast menu. On my most recent visit, my friend and I decided to stop here for a drink. It was... More

Great for traveler to pick up a few essentials, wine, cheese, sodas, a gourmet meal to go, without paying eat out or room service prices.
