Blackstone is a successful balance of bar area and full service restaurant. Located just a few minutes off I-80, it has a relaxed, contemporary ambience, good for coversation. We all ha main course salads, which were fresh and large. My Thai Cobb salad was fine, but didn't have much Asian influence. Attentive servers. We will return to Blackstone.

We ate here on a sunday night with two children and 4 adults. I have eaten here several times and find the food to be sort of typical to the new style of restaurants serving nouveau american cuisine- the food has not really stood out to me and, although the ambience is nice, usually it is very loud and hard... My daughter is attending the University of Iowa so for fun we decided to try a few new restaurants when I come to visit. We found Blackstone fine w/ GPS but it is not near the downtown ped mall area and you'd need to drive to get there. It's worth the drive. Excellent menu w many choices. We tried their... More

The lentil chicken curry soup was tasty and rich, and the classic turkey sandwich was fine. Would like to see other options for the bread, but enjoyed the meal at a reasonable price. The waiter was efficient and kind.

On a busy Saturday night, Blackstone did a fabulous job of getting our group of 4 seated despite at least 3 large parties seated and waiting. The atmosphere is lovely with a fireplace glowing. Their fall specials included Butternut Scallops or a butternut medley side dish. My husband had the Ahi Tuna that was raved about on this site and... More

My wife and I took friends out to the Blackstone while visiting Iowa City. The restaurant's decor is upscale and modern; ambiance lively, but quiet enough to have conversation around the table. Excellent selection of drinks and entrees. The food is not only well prepared but beautifully presented. The dessert selections are wickedly delicious. Prices are a bit high, but... More

Just ate here tonight and loved it. They have a great selection of items but not so many that you are overwhelmed. There were six of us and all of the selections looked great. It seems to be busy with the after work crowd. Has a great liquor menu also.

Visited here twice in one weekend for an amazing dinner with friends and a return trip to try the highly touted Sunday Brunch. Both meals were superb and I've been back several times after making the permanent move here in May. The service is great and the wait time with out a reservation is minimal.

We were excited to try this for dinner last Sunday after hearing about it from friends. Loved the atmosphere, really nice place. The food when we received it was so so. I ordered the local favorites, pasta with Italian sausage and angus burger with tomato sauce covered in cheese. My husband ordered the burger with bacon and cheese and fries.... More
