Good choice

After 11 hours on the road this was a refreshing choice for dinner. A very nice refurbished old depot with friendly service, nice menu and comfortable dining. The steak & pork chop were cooked perfectly, the salad was fresh, cold and as ordered. We will return on our next trip.

Expected menu, beer and wine selections. TVs on. Restaurant sits beside an active RR track crossing that cuts through town.

This is a wonderful hidden jewel in the small city of grinnell. They went out of their way to accommodate what was going to be a very large group, which ended up much smaller and they could not have been more gracious about the change. The menus is wonderful with a variety of everything's from soups, salads burgers, to steaks and... More

My wife and I stopped on our way to a concert in Des Moines. I am a train buff and sought out this place after reading about it somewhere. For the train buff, it is right next to a diamond where UP and IAIS cross. Both of these are low volume tracks, so we didn't see any trains. We still... More

We had another wonderful dining experience at "The Peppertree at the Depot" in Grinnell last night. The food was great, the service was great, and we love the atmosphere of the restored depot. The only thing missing was a train. (Better odds for that experience at lunch!). My wife got the Chicken Brushetta Pasta, which was excellent and a large... More

Thanks to the desk lady at the Country Inn by Carlson in Grinnell, Iowa we found our way here for dinner while traveling from Michigan to Minneapolis. The restaurant is a restored and added onto historic depot. A train did go past the far end of the restaurant while we dined. The food was much better than we would have... More

Outstanding food for such a small town but since it has a world famous music college, I am sure the faculty expects restaurants that have good food and service, which this one certainly fits that catagory

We attended my hubby's Christmas party at the Peppertree. We hadn't been there in a while and I was hesitant after reading some of their reviews but we had a great time and the food was delicious! The drinks and appetizers were also good.

We have visited several of the restaurants in the Grinnell area, but this was our first visit to The Peppertree Grill. The appetizers were good - a nice potato sausage soup and a fresh Greek salad. The filet was well prepared, and the sauce was excellent. We found the Parmesan crusted chicken to be more than acceptable. The blueberry lemon... More

Worst food i've had. Asi tuna was a pre-frozen stringy brick...raw in the middle and chewy on the outside. My wife tried to eat the Parm Crusted chicken but it tasted like it had a cup of sweetner on it. Cheese sauce was both salty and overly sweetened. $40 I'll never see again.
