This is a steak house where a person can have their steak cooked to order, or you can grill it yourself. It has a nice salad bar with soup. The steak - cooked to order was fair, it was kind of tough. It is not presented very elegant, the steak, with French fries piled on top with a piece of... More

Being able to pick out your own cut of meat. season it and cook it your way over a coal pit grill. salad bar and soup included in your order. You'll be hard pressed to find such a nice steakhouse. Also large vehicle parking in the back.

Liked the salad bar. Food was good but a little pricey. Service was good. Like to try the local flair.

We enjoyed a change of pace at the Grinnell Steakhouse on June 30, 2013. The wait staff was friendly and the they have a large grill where you can cook your own steak if you choose. We thought this would be fun and ordered drinks that we sipped while we cooked our Iowa ribeyes. They were delicious. The salad bar... More

We visited this restaurant while in Grinnell for the recent IndyCar race. The clerk at our hotel recommended it. We were a bit surprised a the $3 charge to have our steaks cooked but chose to do that anyway. The salad bar was very good. Had a nice selection. Our steaks were very good. I did have to send my... I've been having steaks in Grinnell for fifty years or so. Old timers like me remember the Longhorn, Bob Globus's upstairs place and a couple of joints on Route 6. There was something very comfy and cozy about them. Booths, a friendly bar scene (after they could sell booze), big baked potatoes and really fine steak. Always a fine salad.... More

Well we all make up our own minds and I have on this metal building steakhouse after eating here twice. 1st they charge you $3. If you don't cook your own steak and this was annoying because I was getting it to go while I went and checked in at a hotel. The steaks are over priced for the quality.... More

We enjoyed our dinner here. The restaurant was close to our hotel and the food was excellent. I would definitely recommend it to people stopping in Grinnell.

We pulled off the freeway around lunchtime for somewhere to have a nice lunch. We found it! No fast food, just a good fresh soup and salad bar and grilled chicken breast sandwich. (Actually, I had them hold the bun). Great lunch, but only a few people there. The restaurant has been open some years and is large. It was... More
