Always Perfect

When I lived in Fort Madison I tried to go here as often as I could because it is just such a great place. Nice people, creative food, awesome desserts. I was so pleased I was able to sneak in a visit for lunch on our recent visit. It was perfect.

Had the Southwest (baked) quinoa main dish with a broccoli salad on the side. Moist, flavorful apple cake with cream cheese frosting topped with toasted, crispy pecans, for dessert. The main dish was SO-O-O delicious: quinoa combined with pieces of chicken, corn, carrots, minced celery; held together with a southwestern-flavored tomato sauce, and topped with melted cheeses.

We stopped by this after touring Nauvoo and heading to Omaha. The food was really good and had some different offerings. I opted for a side trio which had interesting options and were a nice change. The desserts looked amazing, but I was too full from lunch to order one. Still regretting not getting one for the road. Side note... More

I couldn't wait to arrive in fort madison to experience the ivy. Came highly recommended! 10 minutes after I was served a dry toasted "grilled" cheese which I sent back twice I couldn't get out of this "I don't care attitude" terrible place soon enough. How can someone ruin a grilled cheese? No grill & no butter! Unbelievable! These new... More

This is a nice small town coffee shop. The staff was friendly, the selections were average. The building it's in is really neat. It's worth checking out downtown Ft Madison while you are there too!

My husband and I got sandwiches and desserts for lunch. The desserts were above average but the sandwiches were lacking. Lacking in taste and quantity. My sandwich was on sourdough bread which was so dry I had to layer it with mayo. I also got 2 thin pieces of ham. No pickles, lettuce. Go somewhere else. The desserts were homemade... More

First of all, if you read a review saying this restaurant is in a car dealership, it is not. The FORT MADISON, IA Ivy Bake Shop is DOWNTOWN. (The BURLINGTON, IA Ivy is in a car dealership!) These are two different places, two different towns..although the restaurants are operated by the same people. Now, to the actual food. I've eaten... More

The Ivy Bake Shoppe made our 2012 “Dozen Restaurants to try” list. Much to our chagrin, we have lived but 22 miles away for three years and we hadn’t sampled their fare until earlier this year. Sue and her team present outstandingly friendly, patient and prompt service every time. From our fist visit, they won us over. Their fresh-made food... More

I love going here. It is in a car dealership. The food is made to order and fresh. They make their own desserts and goodies and they are to die for, they are so very rich and delicoious.

If you like a nice quaint place that has a wonderful reputation for great food and homemade desserts, this is the place! Everytime I visit Ft.Madison, I spend the majority of my eating at the Ivy Bake shop. The owners have a location in Burlington, IA, also, it is so nice to have a nice place that everyone gathers from... More
