Definitely worth a visit or two, or three ......

The only reason I am giving this place 3 stars is because it gave my husband and I upset stomachs. I am not sure if it was the oils or the seasoning they use. If it weren't for that, the food was good.

Stopping through Fairfield, by chance, on our way across the state - we thought ourselves quite lucky to have found the Istanbul Grill. Never ones to judge a book by its cover, and knowing that some of the best food we've ever had, came from food stands in foreign lands, we were very happy to discover a cozy cafe inside... More

Because of a recent intolerance to garlic, I had to avoid all the Turkish food, so I'm writing from a different perspective. The avocado sandwich wasn't extraordinary, but the roll it was made with seemed fresh-baked. The French fries were not greasy, so good oil. A previous reviewer said the Baklava was the best ever, but there's a place in... More

the food was pretty good, but the decor was very very old and not pleasant. stained, faded red checkered plastic table clothes are gross. wouldn't go there again, tried it twice.

The small town of Fairfield is host to an eclectic mix of shoppes and restaurants. Istanbul Grill is nothing to look at from the outside, has fast food ambience on the inside but OMG, the food is fantastic. Had the kabob combo of lamb, chicken and shrimp and they were equally good.

This is a combination Turkish restaurant which also has a "home cooking" section of the menu (hey, it's rural Iowa). We didn't try the American fare, because we wanted the Turkish food, and we weren't disappointed. The hummus starter was very good, with a special Turkish spice on top. The wife's falafel in pita sandwich was excellent, and my chicken... More

The chicken kabob was excellent, the Turkish pizza sublime, and the baklava the best I've ever had. Don't be put off by the rather plain outside appearance of this place. It may look like a dive, but the service is excellent, the interior is clean, the furnishings simple but tasteful, and the food is to die for. Even if you... More

We go to Fairfield at least once a year and have tried most of the restaurants. On this trip we decided to try Istanbul Grill because the reviews made it sound delicious. Do not be fooled by the slightly shabby exterior, this place is awesome! When we walked in, we were greeted by several locals we met earlier in the... More

We spent a few days in Fairfield recently and were pleasantly surprised to find very good, authentic Turkish food at this restaurant. Two years ago we spent a week in Istanbul and enjoyed the food greatly and we also enjoyed our experience at this restaurant. The fresh, homemade lentil soup was delicious. The chicken kebab with vegetables was a great... More
