I should start by saying that perhaps my expectations were a bit too high for this restaurant because of rave reviews I'd heard first hand. The restaurant itself is very nice, clean, and has a rustic charm. The staff were average. The food itself didn't impress me. I will say my house salad before my meal was good however my... More

We come through Dubuque once a year heading back to the midwest. We discovered L.May a year ago, but it wasn't lunch or dinner time. This year we planned a trip segment to be sure we had lunch - what a gem! Downtown Dubuque is pretty cool. My wife loves Yarn Soup across. What we especially liked about lunch at... More

We were looking for a late dinner somewhere within walking distance of our downtown B & B and we came across this place. We had eaten a big late lunch and were looking for a small meal. Many of the entrees here were in the $22-$27 range, and included things like ginger berry salmon, creole seabass, and sea scallops. But... More

We knew this was a popular spot, so we went a little earlier in order to avoid waiting for a table. (we went around 5:30 on a Saturday night) The menu is somewhat smaller but they have interesting options. For those who are pickier eaters, there's always the pizza! My husband had the sea bass (small portion for the cost,... More

The restaurant is broken into several dining areas which controls noise and makes the experience more personable. The decor made me feel like I was in an upscale environment but not too stuffy, still had an air of casualness to it. The staff was very friendly. The food was delicious, we had the stuffed poblano as an appetizer, the roasted... More

Came here because of people walking downtown Dubuque. Glad we did! Server was very attentive and fast with drinks. Filet was cooked perfect and we also had a spicy pizza. They were both great. At the end they have a dessert tray where they bring out all the desserts and let you see before you buy. Love this place!

This restaurant was recommended by our B and B hosts...and they were right--it was great. It had great ambiance, between elegant and casual! Food was excellent, and service delightful. I had the scallops with goat cheese sauce....very good--seared just right, melt in your mouth. I highly recommend this place!

This place is fabulous. Great menu selection. Excellent beer list. Not only did the food taste great, but it was very unique. I have never seen creative food combinations like they have, and I eat out a lot. Highly recommend!
