#1 for prime rib

By far the best prime rib I've ever had! My husband liked the liver and onions and we enjoyed the large selection of draft and bottled beer and the atmosphere. Kalmes could become one of my favorites!

Chicken is wonderful as are the burgers. Not very friendly staff but service is good. Located in the heart of the city and has a good selection of beers on tap.

Tuesday lunch special, cheap burgers. Regular burgers are even better, Hawaiian burger was messy but awesome.

Consistently very good, the service is friendly and the price is right. I suggest to order the daily special, especially the pork tenderloin.

Stopped here for supper and came back again later for night cap. Both times service was outstanding as well as the food and drinks. When we arrived for our night cap, the kitchen had just closed, however the staff still made us appetizers. If you are in the area, this is a must stop. Customer service and great food is... More

Anyone who has lived in Dubuque knows the quality of Kalmes when it comes to cooking steaks at large gatherings. The company brings that quality to their restaurant which has excellent burgers.

I arrived about 11:20am and the place was empty. Leaving at 12:15pm it was FULL. The lunch special today was a very good French Dip sandwich w/fries. Lots of other things to pick from. The crowd seemed to be mostly working folks on lunch hour and I am sure they appreciated the speedy service. Colorful decor was pleasing.

LIke many of the good eateries in Dubuque this one is in a family run bar. Restuarant is an area of town that is being revitalized and Kalmes is a gold mine. We were there for lunch and we were seated immediately and waitress was quick to get our drink order. Got a rib eye and potato for 9 bucks.... More

This place used to have some great steak sandwiches, but they recently changed suppliers, and now the ingredient quality has suffered. They have decent bar food, but nothing special. The steak sandwich is now little more than a roast beef sandwich. The burgers are just fine, and the drink selection limited. Much better places in Dubuque to try.

We stopped last night to have a quick dinner. The pork ribeye was the evening's special. Hands down.. the best pork I've ever had. Tender, juicy, flavorful. Friendly service and not too loud or overly crowded.
