We enjoy all of the menu items, its like being in Italy. Our family favorites are Sicilian Salad & Pizza Bread, Reasonable snacks, and the small "Sun Fish" on the appetizer menu, among just a few items. The "specials" are also great.

Mario's is a homey, family-style restaurant that remains family- and pocketbook-friendly. The panzerotti is memorable for the guests we have taken over the years. The Sicilian salad is my wife's favorite meal. Don't miss Mario's!

My husband and I are regulars at Mario's. (We don't usually even need to give the waitress our order.) The food is great, the service is fantastic and the prices are good. I would recommend Mario's anytime. Whenever I have out of town guests, we usually go to Mario's...and when they return to town, they request going back!

We've been dining at Mario's for over 20 yrs. You can always count on the entree's quality. The Sicilian salad & pizza bread are our faves, followed by "Reasonable Snacks" i.e. steak bites & salad. Service is usually good. Bartender is super busy & very friendly.

Just visited last week after being away from Dubuque for a while. Tried the ol standard place that has had a reputation for traditional Italian. But watch out for large portions. Lasagna and soup were as expected, very nice. Bartender was very nice too.

A nice homey neighborhood restaurant. Mario always greeting guests at the entrance. He is a pillar of the restaurant and makes you feel like you just arrived in Italy. A treat to talk with. We arrived and were seated promptly. We were on a short time frame and the waitress was excellent to get our meal on the way. Mario's... More

The price is right. If you are looking for a neighborhood restaurant this is the place to go. I arrived early on a Saturday night with two friends for dinner. It's a good thing that we went early because by the time we left the place was packed. I had the veal Parmesan and it rivaled any I've ever had... More

I read some varying reviews, so I decided to check out for myself. We were a party of 4. Service was decent. Old style family restaurant decor--nothing fancy. I had high hopes with various specials, but I was very disappointed. I had Veal Marsala. The veal was like frozen chicken nugget style in a thick sauce that could have come... More

If you're looking for no frills, down to earth, nice Italian food in a restaurant that's been in the family for close to 50 years, this is the place to go. Very reasonable prices, nice help, decent parking.

Restaurant was highly recommended by locals owning a downtown Dubuque business. Server did not manage her tables well, we were in a side room and had our order taken before another group they recieved their food first but their order came in parts and part of the group was finished before one member recieved his dish. When our food arrived... More
