My wife had been wishing to visit this restaurant for quite some time. It is more like a deli or fast food restaurant in that one places an order at a walk-up counter and is given a number to take to one's table. We both had the chicken salad sandwich. It was excellent. The place is a bit noisy, or... More

YUM. YUM. YUM. Seriously, so great! The bakery is definitely like a bakery you would find in France (we asked some people who have been) and the self-serve goodies are kind of odd at first, but you get over that when you start smelling the delicious fruits, chocolate, and buttery-flaked goodness of the croissants. My daughter absolutely loves their breadsticks.... More

Better on inside than out. Our first time here, no one greeted us at door. Food was good though. A bit pricy for bakery/ breakfast food. Not on list of places I need to re visit.

My husband and I stumbled upon this bakery as we were leaving town one morning. You know when there's a line of people waiting for baked goods that you've found something worth trying. This place makes me sad that I don't live in Des Moines. We tried a strawberry danish while waiting on our omelet and french toast and it... More

Yes, I agree with a previous review that the bakery items shouldn't be out in the open. But, the pastries are so good that I try to imagine that they've never been touched by human hands and I end up buying way more than I should eat! I love this place!! And, best of all, the prices are so reasonable!

I usually have the French Ham, but the Turkey Club is awesome too. I have yet to actually eat inside as I usually get my sandwich to go at lunch time, so I'm not sure how the service is. But the baked good are excellant!! Also, their prices are NOT outrageous!!

The food looks great. Tastes pretty good too. A lot of the bakery goods are out in the open and customers and kids touching the goods put me off. Service is good. Space is noisy. Good.

Yes, I know my title ends with a preposition, but you will understand once you visit La Mie. The pastries are light, flaky, and deliciously with their fruity fillings. The breads are simply amazing. Imagine a baguette that French people are pleased to eat. Or imagine potato bread so fresh it is still warm when you slice it. One word... More

Location: - In very cool neighborhood (Cultural, Arts district near museums) although it is like a strip malls. A lot of other interesting stores to explore near this place. -- Free parking at the back of the strip mall. Service: - Although it is more like a self service after you place an order, nice, attentive people at the counter.... More

I've been to La Mie a couple of times and have yet to have anything I didn't absolutely love. Every time I go, there has always been a line. Today, right before I got to the register to pay, La Mie's credit card machine stopped working. Rather than hold up a bunch of people while they tried to fix it,... More
