Wow that was unexpected!

I always have to drag my husband to these little restaurants but he loved his french ham sandwich and I loved the beet and quinoa salad. We had to get a box of pastries go also. We'll be back next time we drive thru Des Moines.

Our favorite restaurant for breakfast in the area and the French roast coffee is good. Hate it when people don't play by the informal rules of getting a table after you order! Can make for a wait.

I have been coming since it was opened. If you are visiting its a great place for breakfast - croissant's like they are supposed to taste. They have wonder sandwich's to go for lunch as well. It is well worth a visit.

We came for breakfast this time, it is the first time we were able to get there early. I had a great egg omelet and desert, toast, coffee! The wife and daughter each had something different too, and we all loved every bite.

Saturday morning it packed and we were overwhelmed with the number of people but soon realized why...Absolutely amazing pasteries of every kind arranged on tables, wonderful breakfast and lunch options priced inexpensively. No table saving until AFTER you purchase and then there are staff to help. That was a little stressful for my Type A personality but all were friendly... More

I can't believe how long i have lived here in the Des Moines area and did not know about this amazing place!! But don't worry I have made up for this by visiting often! This morning I had a yummy breakfast of sausage & poblano quiche and my sis ordered the bacon & spinach omelette. They were both super great!!... More

The place is small and th service quick. We took a load of bread and pastries home for The evening, the meal. Was too generous to also have dessert.

Great fresh bread. Lunch was lackluster. Soup is bland and sandwich was un-imaginative. But fresh pastries and bread are worth the trip.

Wholesome food served quickly and at a price that was affordable for lunch. Oh, did I mention the trays of fresh baked goods?

This small bakery cafe in an out of the way strip mall has the best, freshest pastries (croissants, pecan rolls, scones, etc). In addition, La Mie serves hot breakfast items like tartines, omelettes, and quiches. While I mainly go there for breakfast they do serve several very good sandwiches, soups, and salads for lunch. If you go for breakfast, go... More
