If a lil' taste of France is what you are seeking then it is right here in Des Moines, Iowa, at La Mie. The pastries are scrumptious! You will want to eat more than one--or if you are like me at least 3 or 4. And, it won't break the bank. ( I even got a ox to go.) Most... More

La Mie can rarely do wrong. The breakfast and lunch are almost to perfection...even the patio on a fall day reminds you of a quaint little Parisian boulangerie. I can honestly say that I have never had a meal there I didn't like...and I am known to leave with a box that has a key lime tart, lemon tart and... More

I have heard about La Mie from my family who lives in Iowa, so when I visited them in November, the first place they took me right after picking me up from the airport was La Mie. I enjoyed the "healthier" breakfast menu (picture attached). And my niece totally loved the pastries. It is a great place to get together... More

This small and inviting bakery is the one of the greatest things in town! You are greeted by large marble tables completely covered in pastries. They have the best laminated dough! You will find an assortment of pastries, desserts, fresh baked bread , sandwiches, and breakfast food. We particularly like the Pecan Caramel Rolls, with a nice Omelet breakfast and... More

I knew when I walked in that La Mie had to be an excellent place to go! The place was PACKED! While in line to order, I had to pick several pastries to bring home for my daughter...she loved them. I would have to say, if you have a bit of time and are not in a rush....this is an... More

My wife had been wishing to visit this restaurant for quite some time. It is more like a deli or fast food restaurant in that one places an order at a walk-up counter and is given a number to take to one's table. We both had the chicken salad sandwich. It was excellent. The place is a bit noisy, or... More

YUM. YUM. YUM. Seriously, so great! The bakery is definitely like a bakery you would find in France (we asked some people who have been) and the self-serve goodies are kind of odd at first, but you get over that when you start smelling the delicious fruits, chocolate, and buttery-flaked goodness of the croissants. My daughter absolutely loves their breadsticks.... More

Better on inside than out. Our first time here, no one greeted us at door. Food was good though. A bit pricy for bakery/ breakfast food. Not on list of places I need to re visit.

My husband and I stumbled upon this bakery as we were leaving town one morning. You know when there's a line of people waiting for baked goods that you've found something worth trying. This place makes me sad that I don't live in Des Moines. We tried a strawberry danish while waiting on our omelet and french toast and it... More

Yes, I agree with a previous review that the bakery items shouldn't be out in the open. But, the pastries are so good that I try to imagine that they've never been touched by human hands and I end up buying way more than I should eat! I love this place!! And, best of all, the prices are so reasonable!
