Jesse's Embers has been on the Ingersoll strip for as long as I can remember. The food used to be melt in your mouth awesome. Hub's and I went for dinner and were disappointed. Though are steaks were cooked perfectly to order, they had very little flavor and certainly weren't worth the price. The service was great and our waitress... More

We when here on a recommendation from the hotel shuttle driver. When he pulled up and walked us in through the kitchen we where not to sure, but it was well worth it. The steaks were very well prepared and flavorful. Service was excellent. The only two downsides are their beers choices were very limited and they don't offer dessert... More

We were looking for a neighborhood eatery and happened across this hidden gem. The food was was the best we found during our week in Iowa. There was nothing that could have been improved. The one thing that stood out as being unusual in this day and time, is that the waitress AND owner knew the names of many of... More

A relaxed atmosphere with great service and excellent food for the price. This is a small restaurant with limited seating, but it adds to the charm.

It's busy, it's a small place and noisy. This is a place to go for the food. The meals are consistently excellent, well portioned and cooked as you request. My family goes there often.

I cannot tell you what the food tastes like. Walked in here and the smell was so horrendous I almost vomited. Can't even describe the smell, but I'll try... Like piss and old lobster shells with dirty floor mats and sludge from under the bar that hadn't ever been cleaned out. I mean, wow. It smelled like death. I could... More

Came with family after reading TA reviews. They do not take reservations so we just went. 6 pm and the place was packed, but we were seated right away. Tight place, kind of loud. Good service and great food - two small sirloins, ribs, and deep fried lobster tails (good amount of meat) - all was excellent. Salads were basic.... More

Jesse's is our favorite place in Des Moines. Everything on the menu is good, but the barbecued ribs are outstanding as are the onion rings. The small intimate setting is always warm and welcoming, and the service is excellent. This is one of the gems of Des Moines.
