We were there for our son's birthday with the entire family. My Mom had just had rotator cuff tear surgery and the waitress accidently spilled ice water down her back side. Mom jumped up too quickly, image the pain...ouch! The waitress was very attentive and very apologetic, to the point she was in tears. I felt just as bad for... More

Plenty of TVs, service and food were very good. Prices were normal in my point of you. It really is a perfect bar for College or professional football. I had the Pork Tenderloin, my son and cousin had different kind of burgers. The only thing that threw me off was the parking lot looked like the place was gonna be... More

I have never seen so much fried food on a menu, very little selection that wasn't fried. Very disappointed. This was a week night, not very busy, once ordered it took way too long to receive our meals, no refills on our water, couldn't find the server...

Seriously...instead of the "general manager" taking care of her customers she would rather sit in a nearby booth and paint her nails! They couldn't even find me a drink menu so I can enjoy one 20 minutes later I got my menu...food was good won't deny that...but I can cook for myself and not smell nail polish while I eat....very... Okobogi is to Iowans as the Pacific ocean is to Californians. Therefore, to borrow the name for a restaurant creates an expectation of grandeur and near Nirvana. I frequented this establishment on the south side of Des Moines, presenting with an earned and expectant appetite. As me and my wife settled into a worn booth and were glibly handed generic... More

If we are in doubt as to where to go alone or take guests, Okoboji is our choice. The food is great and the selections varied. The only problem we have is that the booths at the Johnston restaurant are getting a little old and worn out. Sometimes it's hard to get out of them.

I frequently visit this location of the local chain to meet up with friends for dinner and a drink. You can watch a number of sporting events while you have a huge plate of nachos, scrumptious chicken fingers, a big bowl of pasta or just drink your dinner (wink, wink)-all of which I've done. My favorite is the Romano Griller... More

After sampling Ruben Sandwiches throughout the State of Iowa for several years, I have concluded that the best on can be found at the Oakaboji Bar and Grill located in central Iowa. They use marblized rye bread which is grilled to perfection to compliment nice size and tasty portions of corned beef, sour kraut, and thousand island dressing. Add a... More
