I wanted to go to this place cause I seen it on Food Network, this food was way overrated on television the catfish balls looked amazing on tv when we got them they were small and way overpriced for what you get we got chicken there and was not sure if it was a dried out pork chop or a... More

Everything's relative, right? This place has some of the best BBQ in Iowa, hands down. If you're well traveled and have been to some of the famous BBQ capitols of America, like Memphis and Kansas City, then you would probably call this "very good BBQ", but not "mind blowing BBQ". The nondescript building and cramped interior add to the charm,... More

I ate here probably two years ago but I still remember the brisket I had. The atmosphere was interesting and the food was good, if not a little pricey. Why haven't I been back? I have no idea!

Fabulous food, great variety, killer BBQ brisquet, and great dessert. The unimpressive exterior, and cramped dining area cannot stop me from highly recommending this place. Service very good, but the food is fantastic. Try the bread puding for dessert. 5 visits, all with a high rating. Call for a reservation!

Don't let the simple outside design of the building fool you. The food inside is complex and fantastic. I was blown away by the catfish and my wife-who hates fish-even thought it was great. Portions were large. Staff was friendly. Beer selection was also great. This place is a gem hidden in the burbs.

I thought this highly recommended restaurant was good but not excellent. It was BBQ - but I'm from Kansas City where the BBQ will blow your mind. I had a half a chicken. It was good, moist, and flavorful. On the side I started out with some sort of jalapeño potato. It wasn't good. This is probably only the second... More

A coworker who lives in the area told me The Flying Mango is the "Best restaurant in Des Moines". I went last night, a Tuesday, and noticed the parking lot was full and they were busy. I was seated very quickly by a wonderful hostess, who was both efficient and entertaining. She gave me some recommendations - wings or mussels... More

30 minute wait on a Saturday night, not bad. I'm not a huge fan of brisket because I've been sorely disappointed at so many restaurants. Flying Mango brisket is AMAZINGLY flavorful & tender. The brisket pulled apart SO easily with my fork. The sauce on the table was perfectly spiced- a little heat. {sorry, we polished off the bottle} I... More

Only had to wait 20 minutes to be seated and that was with a last minute idea to come here. Food came quickly and it was fantastic. Would definitely come again. Cool atmosphere.
