Very nice selection of British beers and a real feel like a British Pub. Friendly staff, dark wood décor, some interesting appointments. Food is pretty good and authentic tasting (just as greasy as I remember from the UK) with a varied menu. Not a lot of healthy choices, but likely not what you were looking for when you went there.... I had seen on the other reviews that families were welcomed, so we decided to give it a try on a recent stop to Des Moines. Very good recommendation. It was a cool pub atmosphere, nice walk over the bridge from our hotel. Staff was very friendly and my son loved his fish and chips. Made for a very enjoyable... More

Have been here several times- I love the English pub atmosphere and the variety of beers available. Our most recent visit was with a large group of old friends, including several kids. We called ahead and had a huge table waiting for us upstairs- this was perfect for our group. The food was good and hot, the beer was cold... More

Are you ready for a taste of the ol' country? If so, stop over for a pint and a quick meal of fish and chips. Chill space, sweet set-up, friendly staff and good food. Pop over for a hidden gem of an experience and toss back a few pints with the mates.

If you are from the area and like beer from England and Ireland and or single malt scotch there is a great selection here... its a dark bar but friendly staff and people. Fish and chips are great - steak pie... its a pub! For visitors its within walking distance to many downtown hotels and well worth a stop. (Sneak... More

We went to Des Moines to see a concert, read about this place online. Stopped in for a bite, ended up talking with the barkeeps and sampling many of the delicious brews.......so many that I missed the act that I drove 4.5 hours to see! (True story) Whilst the weekend ended up with a 3 star rating, I give a... More

I have spent more than a couple hours in pubs in the UK. They run the gamut and this one fits somewhere in the middle. We did not order food, we were just stopping for a drink between bars on a Sunday afternoon. It was dark and cozy. Service was warm. The beer selection was excellent - not as many... More

Nestled on a side street in downtown Des Moines, this old pub/restaurant had great service and great fish and chips. Didn't hurt to have an extensive beer menu either!

Went to the place about 2:30 pm. The place was pretty empty except for some world cup soccer fans in the back who were really enjoying the game and were good entertainment. Food was very good and portions were big. The beer selection was interesting. Service was very good even with the game going on. My only complain was that... More

Authentic English pub. I enjoyed a pint of Olde Speckled Hen, the first I've had since I was in London years ago. The lunch special was an open faced roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes. Brilliant. Meanwhile I talked World Cup soccer with the bartenders and what the best bet might be.
