food was very good. mostly fish but steak as well. This was the most expensive meal in Des Moines , Iowa that we had. Lobster was $70.00 and the 8 oz filet was 36.00. This was a lot more than I thought it would cost in the area. Wait staff was very good. The food was very good.,now some may like... read more

I had the salmon which was good, but high priced and not fantastic for the price. The atmosphere is nice - beautiful fishtanks all around.

From the service to the food everything was great about splash. Fresh seafood is tough to come by in Des Moines but they get theirs flown in daily from all over the country and take it from an old Boston boy this is fresh fish. The waitresses were wonderful an attentive and upon hearing it was our anniversary they say us... We celebrated our son's 21st birthday at Splash. I reserved a table for 6 online and wrote a note it was for a birthday. Staff called me on the day of the reservation to get more information on the birthday. We were seated right away when we arrived at a table that had confetti decorations sprinkled on the table. The... More

This is one the nicest restaurants in Des Moines, and the best seafood restaurant. The main dining area is somewhat formal with a full dinner menu. The Oyster Bar in front is cozy with a great abbreviated menu. Their wine list is extensive. Street parking can be tough at night when there is a show at The Civic Center across... More

We had a quiet dinner for six people and the food, service and atmosphere were outstanding. I was concerned at first as we were seated in the basement in the far corner behind a fish tank and next to the wine cellar. However, the servers made this a special place for our group and our Daughter. The food, wine and... More

I took two of my friends here just because I had never been here before and heard a lot about it. We had a very wonderful time. We were promptly seated at our reservation time, which NEVER happens in Des Moines. Good job! Our waiter did not rush us at all, and first took our drink order. The Sommelier brought... More

My husband and I went to see Pippin at the Des Moines Civic Center. Fantastic show, by the way, if you haven't seen it! We decided to go have a cocktail and appetizer after the show. Splash is located just down the street from the Civic Center so we thought we'd try it. We had never been there before but... More

We periodically come to Splash for an outstanding meal and dining experience. Based on the price point and location, these are our expectations. Our experience this week, with three in our party, was average food, but the same exceptional service and ambiance. We go to a restaurant primarily for the food, in this case, exceptional food. The shrimp/calamari appetizer was... More

Splash is known in Des Moines as one of the best sea-food restaurants. And while the food is "exotic" (lots of unusual items on the menu), and the taste of the food is good, there are other places in town that will give you a good dining experience with good food without the exhorbitant cost. I won't use specifics, but... More
