Chicken night

Monday night at Americana is all-you-can-eat fried chicken night, so we wanted to take advantage of it. I had heard great things about the chicken. The dinner comes with mashed potatoes, cole slaw, and a good biscuit. The fried chicken was good but not awe-inspiring. Not sure I'd go out of... read more

Made a reservation for a prom group and went expecting to be in and out in an hour and a half or so. Waited 30 minutes to be waited on, ended up being waited on by two separate waitresses and didn't get out food UNTIL AN HOUR AND 15 MINUTES LATER. Was late to prom and almost missed Grand March.... This restaurant overlooks Des Moines's spectacular sculpture garden. It has a bar next to the front windows. The menu is eclectic. There is ample street parking. One of Des Moines's best downtown restaurants.

I've eaten at Americana on several occasions and have never been disappointed. Most recently, I went for lunch and had their black and bleu burger which was delicious and cooked to perfection. Their house seasoned fries were also crispy and seasoned perfectly. I love the atmosphere at the restaurant. The flooring is still the same from the old car showroom... More

I recently had brunch with a group of friends and we each got the Bombshell Brunch. There are so many options for brunch - traditional breakfast foods, soup and salad bar, grilled cheese made-to-order, dessert bar and there are even bloody mary and mimosa bars! The food was delicious and the atmosphere was fun. It's a little pricey but I... More

Anyone who follows my reviews know that I generally err on the positive side, but my brunch experience was anything but. Lets start with their website. They show a lunch menu, but nowhere does it show that this is not an option on Saturday. You can only get the brunch. Ok, not a big deal. Usually brunches are set up... More

My wife, son and daughter in law thoroughly enjoyed the experience. My Cajun gnocchi was prepared perfectly and our group also enjoyed salmon, twenty-hour roasted prime rib and chicken. And even a very good house salad. And our server was a real pro, well informed and expertly trained and non-intrusive. A good evening all around.

My wife and I visited Americana for the first time on a Saturday night after a play. We arrived at 7:30pm without a reservation. They couldn't seat us in the restaurant area but offered us a seat at a high top in the bar area right away. The bar is U shaped around a staircase that the servers use to... More

I've never had a bad meal at Americana and today was no exception. We enjoyed their Sunday brunch for the first time ever. They had an interesting selection of foods including, crepes, mashed potato bar, and made-to-order grilled cheese sandwiches. The fresh fruit was also luscious. On top of the brunch, you can also opt to purchase bottomless Bloody Mary's... More
