AUTHENTIC LEBANESE IN DES MOINES? Who Knew.....

We were in town for the Fair, however we wanted to get the 'Flavor' of the Real Des Moines, so we had our hotel shuttle drop us off in the 'East Village' near the Capitol. In our meandering of the streets of the the Village, we happened upon many 'touristy' shops, bars and restaurants and since we... read more

My husband and I love this place as a go-to for lunch or dinner. The food and service is great and the unique atmosphere makes for a quiet, romantic evening.

My husband and I arrived at opening time for dinner as we realize the restaurant is small. Unfortunately, all sites listed on the web indicated opening was at 5:00 PM which is not the case. The restaurant opens for dinner at 5:30 PM. Fortunately, a table with two chairs was thoughtfully placed outside the venue and we took advantage to... More

Small, cozy, quaint place. Casual attire is fine, but it's not a dump. Quiet enough that you can converse and hear the other person. Really interesting and appealing menu; I couldn't decide what to order. Many of the options are very much like Greek food. I had dish that was kind of like an open gyro with grilled chicken. My... Funky Lebanese restaurant in East Village of Des Moines. Street parking. Small cafe with cozy atmosphere. Good Mediterranean food.

Good good and service. Not the spicy middle eastern fare I'm used to but very good. Beer wasn't very cold though. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Went to Open Sesame on Saturday. Very cool decor and friendly staff. Food was reasonably priced and arrived quickly. Excellent food. Comparable to some of the best large city's Lebanese restaurants. Small place, so get there early. Good location in the East Village.

This is a favorite of mine when going to the Civic Center; you can park on the bridge and walk to both. It's a small restaurant, but the food never fails to please. I believe it's Lebanese.
