The food here is great with decent prices. It was a Saturday night so it was very crowded. This might be why the food took longer than we expected. They have BBQ choices with several types of sauces. All the sauces were very good.

Wow, no place will you find better ribs. No fancy place, walk in and order before setting down. In a very short time your order is brought to your table with a smile. Their sauce is at the table and you can add as much as you want. The sides are great too. No linen tablecloth and you do not... More

We had a very good meal here. The brisket was delicious and the choice of sauces very complimentary. Sides included cheesy potatoes and mac and cheese (my favorites) and bbq beans that were also very good. I would go back here in a minute!

I love BBQ and was passing through Des Moines on the way to a BBQ contest. I was told to stop by Smoky D's BBQ and give them a try. The restaurant is large and also has a large bar. Many trophies from their BBQ contests are displayed in the restaurant. I ordered a brisket sandwich and seasoned fries for... More

I love this place, we've eaten here several times traveling East-West. I love the fact that they have Smoked Turkey Breast. Everything I've eaten was great. Affordable, and both family friendly and couple friendly. They have bar service as well. You will love this place. It's also really easy to get to off of 35.

Don't go if you don't want meat! We went for lunch and had pulled pork sandwiches ($5.50) but they also offer a $9.50 lunch platter, with one meat, two sides and garlic bread. Very tender meat, quite a generous portion. There are 4 bbq sauces on each table. Unlimited drinks. Come with an appetite!

This is an ideal place (by the way it's 2nd Ave, not St.) for a large get together. The Saydel class of 1974 just held their 40th class there and it was very accommodating, food wise, service wise and size wise. Food is very good and reasonably priced and staff was very nice.

This off the beaten path smoke shop is tremendous for lovers of ribs, brisket, and smoked meats. The portions are truly huge. The tenderloin on take out orders comes in a huge cooking pan it is so big. The have great sides as well. Try the potato casserole and cheese balls. They do a good job of getting people in... More

Food was really good, went with the family and we all had something different. My football sized sandwich with three different meats and jack cheese was amazing. I sampled everyone else's dish and found no faults at all, nice job, good service. I prefer the 'sit and order from the menu' type place over Smokeys 'cafeteria/here's your number and your... More

We were across the street at an antique store (unfortunately the antique store is closing soon) and were lured to Smokey D's by the wonderful smell. We were not disappointed! The brisket sandwich is melt in your mouth tender. The mild bbq sauce is perfectly lightly sweet. My husband combined it with the spicy sauce and loved it. The side... More
