We went to Alba on a Wednesday night and were surprised there were few tables filled. Our server was efficient and fairly friendly, but not outstanding. We started with the House Ham & Gruyere Bruschetta and a bottle of wine, half price on Wednesday nights! Both were excellent. The Bruschetta was out of this world delicious! My husband was hungry... I've had stunningly incredible meals here, then at times food that was quite ordinary! This is a unique space in a former car dealer showroom, though it can get quite loud at times!

My husband and I made a reservation here and arrived promptly. We walked in and were looked up and down by a young woman who said, "um, are you here to eat?" We said yes and gave our name and reservation time. She fumbled with her iPad and proceeded to tell us we had a "15...or 25...or longer wait" and... More

For Lunch, our goat cheese ravioli and chicken risotto were divine. Our server was charming. Only negative, ice tea wasn't very good, tasted like fountain tea.

Alba's has some of the finest cuisine in Des Moines, though at unsurprisingly high prices. Relax, it's worth it. And while you're there, not the doors on the ceiling. Seriously, there are ordinary inside-of-the-house doors on the ceiling. Another oddity of the restaurant is that their seating is designed to give space and privacy, so I really recommend it for... This was my second visit to Alba and the food was good. Alba is located in a former auto dealership in East Village. Urban, industrial feel inside with wonderful "show room" windows on all sides. The menu is somewhat limited and consists of salads, sandwiches, along with a few soups and entrees. I enjoyed the corn bisque soup and beet... More

Discovered this place during Restaurant week, and I was pleasantly surprised. I had never visited before, since I thought it was "expensive," but it really isn't at all. You can get a great lunch and it is reasonably priced. My only issue is that sometimes the service can be a little slow during lunch, even with a mostly empty restaurant.... More

Dined here with a good friend during restaurant week. The menu was a little different but fun- everything was in flight choices. Had reservations and the owner stopped by and had a chat. We bought some of our own wine and shared a glass with him and then he shared one of his favorites. We talked about the dishes. Our... More

We dined at Alba during Restaurant Week with good friends on a Friday night. We were seated promptly and our server was attentive, knowledgable, but not intrusive. The meal was FABULOUS! We all ordered different items so we were able to taste several different things. My husband had the sweet breads entree and couldn't stop talking about how good it... More
