Great dinner with family group. Menu has big variety with interesting taste combinations. Entrees, salads, sides and greens all locally grown. Hanger steak, Halibut and a pork dish all terrific. Desert was a deep chocolate tort with buttermilk based ice cream. Tasty but contrasting combination. Service person was an enthusiastic and detailed "educator" on the menu items....nothing she recommended failed... More

Alba is a great place for drinks and appetizers, especially during Happy Hour. The cocktails were varied and honestly made, my martini was perfect. We had the Lamb Pot Stickers, Bruschetta and Goat Cheese Stuffed Dates. All three were delicious but the dates were simply divine. In fact, we should have stuck with the appetizers because dinner was a bit... More

The lamb sandwich for lunch was excellent! Definitely worth trying. The split pea soup was also very good.

We chose this restaurant as our place to go after getting married in Des Moines. We tried 4 other restaurants on a previous trip and felt this one had the best atmosphere and menu. We had a reservation originally for 14 people and I had to adjust it to 11. They were happy to take the reservation and make adjustments.... More

Four of us ate an early dinner before going to the theatre. The inside is well appointed but on the noisy side. The table and food presentation was very nice. The menu selection was eclectic and the descriptions were not quite what was delivered. The produce is fresh and organic but the portions were small and of mixed quality. Our service... More

Ate here with several co-workers tonight. I tried the pork shoulder which was priced around $23. It arrived swimming in wild rice and corn. Nothing on the menu said anything about corn which I was trying to avoid... The little bit of pork shoulder that was on the plate didn't have much flavor. Luckily someone else paid the bill.

I tried Alba for the first time with friends during Restaurant Week and was not disappointed. The corn chowder was smooth and delicious but the octopus carpaccio my friend had was even better. I had the pork cheek dish, which was tender and delicious. For dessert I had the chocolate lava cake, which was absolutely wonderful. I order this dessert... More

We went for my husband's birthday and he left full, happy and a little tipsy ( I was driving! ). He loves coming here for all special occasions. The food is always great, service is spot on and he loves a good cocktail. His favorites are any of the homemade soups and the pork loin. I almost always have a... More

We stumbled across this restaurant while staying in the East Village area of Des Moines and it seemed the most attractive of those we passed so we checked it out on TA and returned later that night. The staff were reasonably friendly though perhaps a little pretentious. Service was good enough, the menu was a little limited but had a... More
