This place is AMAZING. Best sushi in des moines by far and the staff is incredible. I recommend the dragon roll and the dynamite roll.

The best sushi restaurant in Des Moines, and in my favorite area - the East Village! Great service, fresh ingredients, loads of menu choices (try one of the Bento boxes), all in a renovated brick building and a very friendly owner. I had to wait once (and not very long) for my lunch order during an especially busy afternoon and... More

On our recent stay in Des Moines we walked by a storefront restaurant and saw people view of front window enjoying Japanese cuisine. Boy was it a good choice. Excellent very fresh fish and sushi rice. Quality matches any of sushi I have sampled in the mainland. Miso soup a little disappointing, broth a little weak to my taste. Nice selection... More

Watch it !!!! The owner will charge you extra for " Hot sauce"????? I came on business to the area and the concierge at my hotel told me about that place. Food was ok but the- "Open food- $1" made me wondering ?? So I asked and answer made me very upset !

Lunch for 2 My husband and I were passing through Des Moines and wanted to grab a bite to eat. LOCATION: Right off the 235. Easy to find. Street parking mostly. ATMOSPHERE: Small, homey and a lot of little personal touches. Walls were scaffold panels to look like they could slide across the room. It seemed like a make-shift shop... More

Miyabi 9 is a very small restaurant and when crowded, is like eating in a cafeteria, but I don't think the sushi there could be any better. It's served with flair and delights me each time.

First time ever having sushi and I really enjoyed it. My friend and I had the Des Moines roll (salmon, cucumber, avocado) and thought it was very good. We also had fried shrimp with vegetables which wasn't as good as the sushi. It was plenty of food but was a bit greasy - would have been great just grilled. That was... More

The gal who was serving us was either new or had too much on her mind. The sushi itself was good. The service just took too long for such a small number of clients.

Good Sushi is hard to come by in Des Moines so this place was a good find. The sashimi was fresh and the atmosphere was good. Don't expect a 5 star experience but this is Des Moines and not California or Japan. A comfortable place with good food, so good that the local city dwellers near it regularly order take... More
