But here it is, right downtown on Water St. in Decorah, Iowa. Creative and consistently great food, friendly owners, ambiance galore. We feel fortunate to have The Rubaiyat in town!

You can consistently expect phenomenal food at reasonable prices. 2 or 3 of the 10 most memorable meals I have ever had have been served at Rubaiyat, and I have been to 49 of the 50 United States and to 40 countries. Chef Andy will never disappoint you, and Kim runs a delightful front end.

The food is DELICIOUS. The service is AMAZING. First you get this bread that makes your mouth water just looking at it. Then we usually get the wedge salad with the most delicious dressing. If we plan ahead we only eat half our meal so we can not only have more to eat the next day BUT we still have... More

I'd rather go across town and get a good steak, potato, veggies, salad and bread and still have money left in my pocket.

Gourmet food with flavors that will make your mouth smile! I had the seafood pasta dish -delicious! But that warm, chewy yeast bread with olive oil and Parmesan cheese? I could live the rest of my life on that alone!

Our family had an amazing dinner here, friendly efficient service. We even got to try the brand new menu items and it was so great we can't wait to come back again. Tomato Basil feta soup, salad greens with nuts and the tastiest strawberry beet vinaigrette . This restaurant is such a gem and we are very picky with food... More

The food and service were excellent, and the staff treated us with authentic kindness. We have no hesitation about driving three hours from our Madison, WI home again to visit your restaurant.

Rubaiyat by far is the best upscale restaurant in NE Iowa. Kim and Andy have worked hard since its opening in the fall of 2007 to make Rubaiyat the best full service restaurant in Decorah. All of the food items served are timely prepared to meet Rubaiyat’s high standards for presentation, quality, and taste. The ingredients they use are fresh,... More

The menu changes with the seasons and they use as much local and organic products as possible. Much of the food from the menu is also on the bar menu. Chef Andy makes gormet food and the desserts are excellent.

This restaurant alone makes sleepy Decorah, Iowa (home of Luther college) a culinary destination. Featuring locally sourced produce, the restaurant offers meticulously prepared and creative entries based on simple ingredients. Turning simplicity into complexity might be the theme of this kitchen, just as the four line stanza of a rubaiyat does in Persian literature. Coming down to earth: we had... More
