I heard about the restaurant from trip advisor, voted the best in council bluffs, the service was good a nice lady sat me, I got a water and started to look over the menu I found that there were some things that were not available during lunch which was understandable, I wanted to taste two or three things, but my... Wonderful service, super food, low-key atmosphere with no pretension. The prices are more than reasonable. We tried a variety of meats and all were perfect. Go here, go here now.

Real BBQ -- huge portions and friendly service at this informal BBQ take-out eat-in restaurant. The prices are reasonable and the food is high quality. Loved the baked beans & potato salad. This is worth a drive. Hope this helps!

While it surely wasn't the best I have ever had it clearly was the best for the price, area and taste for Omaha. I surely wanted to try the Bread Pudding but was to full from my meal, I can say though had the waitress asked I most likely would have said yes. Don't expect much of an atmosphere but... More

For the price, you get huge servings of very tender brisket and pork. If you can't decide, choose the "moo pig" sandwich includes both. Very friendly staff. I would have liked to try the deep fried bread pudding, but it's really priced and sized for 2 or 3 diners.

Thanks to all of the TA people out there, we decided to give this a try. We certainly would have never stopped in otherwise as the place looks really "seedy" on the outside. (The inside isn't that great either). But the owners/staff are very friendly, things are clean and the food is really good. I make the 3 hour pilgrimage... More

This is by far the best in the area! The meat is always tender and absolutely delicious! My husband judges bbc by the sauce and the varieties here are his favorites! I go for the smoked flavor of the meat and Jim makes the best by far. I think that Boxer beats all the KC smoke pits that I have... More

I am very baffled with the previous "amateur" description of Jim's meats. Boxer has won several bbq awards. This is a local family owned restaurant. Jim, the owner/pitmaster, is almost always there & comes out to talk to diners. Your waitress will likely be his daughter. We have been going to Boxer since it was carry out only. The smoked... The food was ok but not true BBQ , just smoked meat if you are a true BBQ lover you will be disappointed as I was. It is the closest thing to real BBQ that council bluffs has to offer. They are also a little pricey and the decor is a little strange for a BBQ joint.

OMG! I've had BBQ from coast to coast, NC BBQ with slaw, great Texas brisket, the KC specials, and my growing-up BBQ mutton in western KY. The BBQ at Boxer's just beat them all! The meat was so incredibly tasty & tender in the brisket, the ribs, the shanks, the chicken. Don't need sauce, but the ones on the table... More
