Wow. Wasnt expecting the food to be so great here but it was. It a great restaurant right off of the highway. The staff here are genuine and very friendly and accommodating. The service is second to non. I was blown away by the speed of service on a friday night while they were busy. I ordered the fajitas jalisco... More

This place was delicious! I'm a big fan of Mexican cuisine and La Mesa didn't disappoint. The decor is really neat! Very colorful, neat, and clean. My husband and I had chimichangas -- they were tasty and huge! You definitely won't leave hungry. The service was okay -- it just took a little long for our waitress to come back... More

Finding ourselves on the Council Bluffs side of the Missouri River we decided to try one of the "local" eateries. Asking at our hotel for "good local options" we were provided with a couple of choices - including La Mesa. OK we went. Arriving we immediately noticed the parking lot was quite full - always a good sign. The restaurant... More

Coming home from Winter Park we had a reservation at the Fairfield Inn. After 10 hours on the road and a train blocking the road to the hotel, we opted to go straight to LaMesa. The margarita menu is vast, the taco menu is also deep and varied. Good service, beautiful decor. I wish I lived closer. All three people... More

We were driving straight through from Beaver Creek, Colorado, to Chicago when we ran into icy roads in Omaha and decided to spend the night. We got rooms at the Fairfield Inn in Council Bluffs and asked for a restaurant recommendation. The desk clerk sent us to La Mesa, which was nearby, and we loved it. There were five adults... More

My husband and I came in here on 2-28-14 to enjoy some fajitas. Service was awesome and the atmosphere was great. The fajitas for two could have fed four people. They were pretty tasty. The tortillas beans, rice, chips, salsa and guacamole were all really good. The price was around $22.00 for the fajitas for two.

La Mesa is one of my favorite restaurants in the Council Bluffs/Omaha area. We ate at the Council Bluffs location tonight and it was pretty good. I did notice the salsa was different from the Omaha locations. It seemed less chunky and less spicy. I think La Mesa has some of the best Queso Dip! It's the white cheese and... More

Very nice decor, high ceilings and brightly painted seating. Good place for small kids, extra noise will not be noticed. Service was fast and attentive. Food was average and met expectations. Restaurant is right next to Hotel 6, and is a fine place to eat if you are passing through.

Every time we go out to eat at La Mesa in Council Bluffs, the entire family has a fun time and great food. The servings are very generous and tasty. We almost always go through at least two baskets of chips and a few containers of salsa before our food comes -- not that the service is slow; we just... More
