This little restaurant is a refreshing surprise. It is an intimate atmosphere that is conducive to visiting and quiet and calming. The decor is very pleasing to the eye and reminds me of small little cafe's in Europe.David, the chef and owner, will do anything to please you. The food is cooked to perfection and preference. It is pricey but... More

I have been to Chez grace 2 or 3 times now. It is truly a unique place. It is expensive, but the food is excellent. The wait to seat is null. However, the wait for the food can be long. This is due to 1 man (owner) runs the whole show, he is the chef, the host, the servicer. There... More

The ambiance was warm, upscale and inviting. The exterior is misleading (in a strip mall) for what you find inside. It seats only 16 people so it is private feeling. The chef was really interactive which was very fun. Overall a nice experience.

Went here for the first time with my daughter and her boyfriend October 13, 2012. What a treat! Such a find in Iowa City area. Great food, excellent service and nice wine selections. He really took good care of us. Will be back on the next trip to Iowa City. Can not belief it is in a strip mall! Once... More

Let me start by saying that I am a REALLY picky eater, and the Midwest has a surfeit of "adequate" food. Chez Grace is the real thing; the food is perfect, the wine is good, the experience is nonpareil. We go twice a month and we LOVE Chef David. Words actually fail me as to how perfect and delicious each... More

Well, first you have to look where one might least expect. Chez Grace is located in a small strip of shops behind an all you can gorge eatery. The restaurant is small but once inside you will find simple yet elegant decor. And then the surprises keep getting more intriguing. Start with the chef (David) who comes from Palestine, is... More

Where to start, this is my second visit to Chez Grace, and David the owner and chef, is a wonderful self taught amazing man who cooks some of the BEST classical french you will ever lay your hands on. Group of 3 today, we started with salads. Seared pear with Brie, review from the women dining, "can I lick the... More

My wife and I had dinner here on Friday night April 6th, 2012. We ordered the tasting seven courses and the chef told that dinner it will take at least couple of hours, and explain how the duck and the fillet needs to be prepared (medium rare). Let me tell you something this the best tasting menu I ever had... More

The food is mediocre at best. Watery asparagus soup, tepid foie gras with warm pear!, terrible duck. Wine list is frightfully expensive by any standard. Our tab for two exceeded $160 without dessert and a $50 bottle of white. An interesting concept very poorly executed by a quirky chef who means well. His clientele must not get out of Iowa... More
