I've been to quite a few Thai restaurants and this one is easily one of the best I've been to--if not the best! FOOD: 5/5 We like Crab Rangoon and we agree that this is the best we've had. The coconut milk was very refreshing and much better than the Vita-Coco water you can find at grocery stores. For the... More

This is my favorite sushi in Des Moines. Always done perfectly and the wait staff is very attentive. Anxious to see what the restaurant is like after they move buildings.

I ordered the Basil Fried Rice and the Vegetarian Cashew spicy and asked them to make it 6 stars and it sure was spicy. The place was quiet busy on the weekend and had to wait 25 minutes to get the table. You can tell a lot about the place by seeing how busy it is. I knew before I... More

I ordered the Chicken Cashew spicy. It was just the right amount of heat. Everyone found something to eat to their liking. The treat was the Thai fortune cookie. It came with some witty fortunes and lucky numbers. It was a fluke we found this place. If I ever come by Iowa, I will look for this place.

A friend of ours took us here several months ago and now we can't stop eating here. Thus is some of the best tai food I have had. Appetizers are excellent and portions are nice. The hardest part is deciding which item to order. We love the salads. I don't normally order a salad at a tai restaurant but these... More

I used to live in Iowa and was a regular at Cool Basil. My wife and I were particularly fond of their curries. On a recent visit to Iowa we ordered carry-out which included green curry. When we opened our order the rice was missing, requiring a return trip to the restaurant. When I arrived to get our rice it... More

This was our first time at Cool Basil and we really enjoyed it. We did not have reservations on a Saturday night but the wait was not that long. We loved the food and had great service throughout the meal. I was going to have my dish prepared "hot" and our waiter talked me out of it saying that their... More

Our extended family celebrated a birthday here so it was a pretty large group (around 21). They handled it better than I expected. Our food didn't all arrive at the same time but that would've been extremely difficult. The appetizers were excellent! Our entrees were very fresh, tasty and attractively presented. Our 4 person group within the large group didn't... More

I was travelling with a business associate and we just pulled this place out of the GPS. Thank you god! The place was packed, always a good sign. It was the best Thai, I've ever had. I'm terrible at remembering the names of the plates. But it was great from the roasted soy bean starter to the green tea ice... More

Road-weary and tired of hotel food, we trip-advisored a meal in Des Moines, Iowa. Viola! Cool Basil in Clive, of all places, popped up in repeated reviews. Again, your service produced! Our papaya salad, tangy with fresh lime and what I believe to be kefir leaves, wowed the senses. Nee, a knowledgeable and friendly server, explained that Drunken Noodle was... More
