When Maru first came to town, they were the underdogs - there were other well established Sushi places in town. But boy did they bring their A game with taste. Excellent taste, decent value. The location is just OK in terms of obtaining parking, but is quite near enough campus to be able to walk from the Union. The ambience... More

The service was very efficient and, of course, the food was amazing. I ate a lunch box of Teriyaki chicken, noddles, rice, california rolls, tempura, salad, hot tea and miso soup. And I must say it was the best dish I have ever ate. The flavors, how fresh its ingredients are, the place by itself, the avarage prices (US11), it... More

I absolutely love Maru! While some may complain about the length of the wait if you try to go during a busy time, I like the fact that the restaurant is committed to staying small and keeping their quality of food at such a high level. I like the intimacy of the restaurant setting, and I have always received extremely... More

The sushi here is fresh and sweet -- just as it should be. The restaurant is so busy -- people waiting for your table - that it makes it a little rushed. The servers really don't have enough time to properly attend to your needs, BUT the sushi is really good.

the quality of fish is very good (we haven't sampled anything else on the menu...) and so is the variety. the nigiri and sashimi is so good. the tuna and salmon melt in your mouth. it's almost like eating dessert. and the creativity that goes into the rolls is fantastic (the pics on the website don't do them justice)-- they... My Purdue daughter said it was not uncommon to wait upwards of an hour for a table during the week, but on a non game Saturday we were seated immediately and the service was top notch. The sushi is amazing! So fresh and light. Go with what you like, it's better here! We tried the mango tango roll (along with... More

Yes, it is the best sushi around the area, but? The service is horrible. Horrible meaning that they don't fill up your drinks, don't come to bother and ask you if the meal is good. I don't tip them sometimes, and well if you don't do your job, you should not be given tips(sometimes 5%) Go for the chauncey roll,... More

The food overall was good. The sushi was the best value on the menu, made well and fresh though I have had better elsewhere. I wouldn't recommend ordering an entree, felt they were over-priced for what you received. Service was lacking. Everyone's drink was empty and no one came to ask if everything was fine or if more drinks were... More

It is certainly not the "best sushi in the world." Not sure where people who have said that have been getting their sushi from... Anyway, I heard from a co-worker that this place had some great sushi and it had some good reviews, as I always examine the reviews of a place before I eat there, so I decided to... More
