The food is good but not excellent. The wait staff is ok but not good. The service is somewhat slow. We go when there is a special week for dining downtown. We'd go back for a special.

Six PM on a Thursday and the place is nearly deserted. Our hostess gives us the "fisheye" instead of a smile, what are you missing here. Our server was casually attired to a fault. They suggest the house specialty appetizer Mike's spicy crab dip. A bowl of nondescript generic cheddar with microscopic morsels of crab meat paired with slices of... More

I will caveat this review by claiming ignorance to The Vine's dinner options. I've only experienced lunch. I will say however that my lunch was fantastic. I ordered the prime rib dip and I was more than pleasantly surprised, I was supremely impressed. Typically, dip sandwiches are mostly bread with alittle meat slapped on it, and not overly flavorful because... More

A happy party of ten celebrating a courthouse wedding, on a very slow weekday afternoon, so slow we were the only party in the whole restaurant, were met with good food and drink. But emphatically lackluster service. In my more cynical frame of mind I have to suspect it is because the tip was already added because of the size... More

We needed lunch after a long flight. Great find! Wonderful salads, wines and a helpful staff in a lovely setting with plenty of window views.

We were in South Bend for one night and saw an ad for The Vine. It turns out that it was half price for bottles of wine and appetizers the night we were there. We took the wait staff's recommendation to try the assortment of appetizers that included the hot crab dip with fresh baked bread. Maybe it was the... More

Went here with a very large group of friends after a matinee showing of Wicked. at first they weren't going to seat us because they were worried that they wouldn't get us out in time for their dinner crowd with reservations. But the wait staff and the kitchen staff was amazing and had dishes on the table in no time.... More

Food, service and atmosphere was a perfect combination prior to attending the symphony at Morris Civic. We'll be going back very soon.

Happened upon this restaurant prior to a volleyball tournament and were pleasantly surprised by how good it was. Good selection of items on the menu and portions are generous. They are very accommodating to diners (leaving out items from the dish, substitutions, ect). Servers were very knowledgeable about the menu and dishes. Be Aware that this restaurant is directly next... More

My friend and I decided to eat at The Vine during restaurant week in downtown South Bend. I had tilapia, which was very good. We also shared an appetizer, the bruschetta. It was served with toasted bread rounds, drizzled with a wonderful balsamic vinegar, while the tomato/basic/garlic topping was served cold...and there was a lot of it! I would highly... More
