I have read the reviews of this restaurant and I know when some places rest on their past reputation or "aren't what they used to be". I came in to book a dinner for the car club I am in and we ordered off the menu. Wife had the scallops - and they were EXCELLENT. I ordered the "special" it... More

Went for lunch. Our server touted the French Dip Sandwich. It wasn't great. Meat was tough and overcooked. The building is something to see and is part of the history of South Bend. That's the draw.

Every metro weekly has a "Best of" issue. The Metro Times in Detroit. Westword in Denver. And, the Village Voice in New York. And, invariably, in each of those issues is the category "Best Restaurant When Someone Else is Paying." Tippecanoe Place might take that honor in South Bend. But, barely. Tippecanoe Place bills itself as "A tradition started by... More

We went with another family for Sunday Brunch. The food did not disappoint. I would have been fine with all of the fresh fruit, but the waffles were great and the made to order omelet station had many fresh choices choices, he had at least 8 burners going so the wait was very minor. The service was great even with... More

Had dinner on a Tuesday evening. I had the chef's pasta, which was shrimp and scallops in a cream sauce over angel hair. My wife had the New York Strip. We both enjoyed our meals. The staff was attentive and courteous. While there may be better restaurants in South Bend, this one was not bad. Plus I got to roam... More

Has been around for a long time and is showing it's age. Old outside as well as inside. Interesting to see how the once rich and famous lived BUT you don't get to see much of it. Overall just average. For me its like living off their reputation.

Visited on Friday 3/13/15. First, let me clarify that I have dined here many, many times and in fact, my sister was married here on their spiral staircase. I state that to point out that I have a point of reference for my review and it is not just based on one single experience. In its day, this restaurant was... More

First of all, the mansion is beautiful and the fact you are free to roam around on all 4 floors is great! The French Dip my mother in law had was very tasty! The portobella mushroom sandwich with the huge glob of cheese on it with the soggy bun was not good. The french fries were amazing! Unfortunately, the waiter... More

The Sunday Buffett is excellent. I love this old building and all the history. The staff is nice and friendly.
