This restaurant, housed in an old bank building, is what every urban center should do to re-purpose buildings. Cafe Navarre offers a traditional venue with some very inventive food. Classic cocktails and a great bar are the beginning of an evening that can be casual or upscale. Going forward, it is our go-to place in South Bend.

This was my first time eating at Cafe Navarre. It was a Monday lunch time and quiet. Nice atmosphere and good service. I ordered the Chicken Salad and it was super delicious. My husband had a vegetable sandwich and it looked yummy! Would definitely go back again and have a meal.

My husband and I were traveling and needed to find a place in South Bend that stayed open late, so we ended up at Cafe Navarre because they were serving until 11PM on a Friday night. What a pleasant surprise when we walked in to find this restaurant housed in a magnificent old bank building! We were able to be... More

We went the night before a ND football game, it was quite busy, but our waiter, Cesar was awesome. We never felt rushed, he was so friendly and professional. I wanted to try a local beer and couldn't decide, so without asking, he brought me two testers that he thought I might like, and he was right, I did order... More

Excellent food, great wait staff, pleasant airy atmosphere allowed privacy for conversation and muted noise levels from surrounding diners. Not a standard menu but great selection from daily specialties. French press coffee for desert was out of sight!

The restaurant has very unique and gourmet food. Loved it. Had Cornish game hen. So tender and flavorful. Their homemade mozzarella cheese is soooo tasty. Wine selection very good. The only negative was the temperature of the restaurant. Cold. Changed to seats not under a vent and it was better. Just bring a sweater. You will enjoy the food and... More

again, I'll be back! I grew up in the Nappanee, IN area, and rarely go back (like once every 15-years)... was happy about this find, shared with me by friends who are still locals in the area. Loved the character of the building, and, hence, the ambiance! Loved the food, and drinks were poured right!

We returned to South Bend to visit a friend whom we knew from years when our daughter went to school there. It had been 10 years since we were there, so I went online and found a review for this place. It was WONDERFUL! Situated in an old bank building with high ceilings adds to the ambiance. Meal was as... More

I grew up in South Bend and come back once or twice a year to visit family. The South Bend restaurant scene leaves much to be desired. If there is a better restaurant in South Bend than Café Navarre I have not found it. Five of us ate there recently, with steaks, seafood, and chicken dishes ordered. Every entrée was... More
