We went for our anniversary dinner and had a wonderful meal! Service was great and the food was fantastic! I highly recommend.

If you haven't tasted Chef Adele DeRose Ciao's magnificent cucina then you haven't lived. From her freshly made bread and soups, salads, main courses and incredible Italian desserts, everything is fabulous. Have a drink and a casual meal in Ciao's Lounge at the front of the building or experience the more romantic setting in the rear dining room. We had... More

We went here because the Asian bistro we wanted to try was closed on Monday. We were anticipating your basic Italian food, but it was far from it. My husband ordered the most basic dish they had--lasagna. It was very good. I had a pheasant tortelli with a creamy mushroom sauce that was good but there was way too much... More

I'm not a big fan of Italian food, but I do like some. Ciao's had some pretty attractive offerings (at two entrees for $33) during South Bend's Restaurant week and my wife does like Italian a lot. The lobster linguine sounded pretty good to me so I thought, what the heck? It was very good. My wife liked her meal... More

Everything was perfect. Great wine - esp. the Aglianco. Bruschetta with fresh tomatoes created a tasty start. The dipping oil (for the bread made in house) had basil, oregano, roasted garlic and really good olive oil. The house salad was artfully arranged with interesting greens and vegetables. We had the house-made ravioli stuffed with salmon with shrimp with tomato/cream sauce... More

We celebrated our anniversary here and had a pleasant meal. Started with the spicy mussels appetizer, which was just-right spicy and perfectly cooked. I had a very hearty chicken vegetable soup and husband had caesar salad for accompaniments, both also very good. On our server's recommendation of her favorites, I had the pheasant tortelli with its amazing mushroom sauce, and... More

We have been patrons of Ciao's for the past ten or so years. Adele is an excellent chef and, when she can get out of the kitchen, is a charming hostess. I love to cook and Italian is my favorite. On a recent visit we had the puttanesca and cacio e pepe (Roman style adult macaroni and cheese). If you... More

On 11-22-2013 I made a reservation for 10 in the lounge. We were sat at a round table that was probably made to seat no more than 8 so our evening began very crowded. We had three different waitresses but could never find one when they were needed. Soups and salads were delivered to our table before anyone had silverware.... More

When we have traveled to italy, I like to play a game with myself. I pit the dishes I order in fine restaurants there against Adele Ciao's versions. Adele always comes out on top. Many chefs have the same Master Chef training, but lack the creativity found at Ciao's. This is no spaghetti and meatballs joint. This is fine cuisine.... More

While staying in South Bend, Indiana in the downtown area (at the DoubleTree Hotel) we were pleasantly surprised at several restaurants within walking distance that were supposedly quite good, based upon the hotel's employees' suggestions. One evening we arrived at the "Ciao and Lounge" at about 9:00 p.m. A sign on the door said that the restaurant would be open... More
