We go to the Carriage House for special personal occasions because dining there is the ultimate culinary experience. Beginning with the special "pate and pickles plate", through the delicious appetizers to the melt in your mouth main courses, the food (and service) is the finest we have experienced. I took my Phoenix-based boss there one evening and he proclaimed the... More

I recently visited South Bend (my hometown) and took my two daughters and a friend to the Carriage House for dinner. We sat in the lovely garden and our server was attentive, helpful and very pleasant. We had several dishes and shared. We had a pizza (that is only served in the garden), the scallops and duck. They were all... More

I came to the Carriage House anticipating a great meal and left with the eager desire for more of their exquisite offerings. I value indoor dining, but love when the opportunity to sit outside surrounded by the very garden the Chef prepares from and the beauty of nature's poignantly designed composition. We started with Scallops that could certainly suffice as... More

This was not our first visit and we love going back . Each time it is a delight from our arrival at the beautiful grounds to the welcoming staff and exceptional food and service by a well trained staff in the front of the house. In the back of the house , a kitchen staff that prepares food fit for... More

For a special occasion recently, my husband and I enjoyed an expertly prepared dinner al fresco at the Carriage House. Surrounded by beautiful gardens, we might as well have been in Europe! The ambiance was the same! The restaurant owner and staff go out of their way to be friendly, but not overly friendly, and to serve the best quality... More

Amazing wine list. We ordered a 2012 Rodney Strong Russian River pinot noir. My rack of lamb was prepared perfectly and glazed with red wine/balsamic reduction. The bed of rice and lentils was prepared with what tasted like curry, cardamom, and corriander. Really tasty. My wife had Veal (with a light breading) Baltimore with chunks of crab. The crusty but... Very good restaurant with great menu and non-typical options (pheasant). We go on special occasions. It is on a country road with beautiful surroundings. Staff is nice and friendly.

We found this restaurant on Wine Spectator, and had to give it a try, especially since it had a 2 wine glass rating, and we were over pleasantly surprised. The Caesar salad was super, except it could have had actual anchovies with the anchovy dressing that would have taken it over the top. We had the baked chicken and the... More

I have been to the Carriage House Gardens at least once every summer for the past three or four years. It is a beautiful, idyllic setting out on a country road where one forgets that they are in South Bend. It could be almost anywhere you imagined it to be. On my most recent visit, the gardens were blooming profusely... More

This is an excellent restaurant.! We have eaten at The Carriage House several times before. We chose this restaurant to celebrate our daughter's graduation from a Notre Dame's Law School, along with visiting there every time we travel to South Bend. The food, ambiance & service have always been exceptional. For this visit, my husband ordered Dover Sole. He loved... More
