As one of Indiana's largest restaurants, the Blue Gate comfortably seats 600 (more than the town's population). Built to reflect the surrounding community, the Blue Gate resembles a rambling white farmhouse, similar to those that dot the surrounding Amish coutnryside. An award winning restaurant serving a world famous Family-style meal that features pressure fried chicken and 3 other meats, real mashed potatoes, Amish noodles, plus lots of other sides and 25 varieties of pies to choose from

We had lunch, meatloaf and liver and onions. Their apple butter was the best and we got a quart to take home. Plenty of food, enough for leftovers. Friendly servers and very helpful.

The handful of times I have eaten here I have always left wondering why everyone talks so highly of the place. To me the food was just average tasting not spectacular enough to make me think "I need to come back & eat here again in the future" & also, it seemed over priced for what you get. The place... More

I can't say enough about Blue Gate! It was the best thing about staying in Shipshewana, especially in winter when there's not much going on. This place is just adorable inside and out. It's very quaint on the inside, with plenty of booth space. Their country roast beef was delectable, and a decent sized portion for the price. The Amish... More

Best fried chicken! I love the hush puppies too. Everything tastes like it is from scratch. The peanut butter pie is to die for. It has this peanut butter crumble crust that is beyond words. Great, now I'm craving another piece.

We had the Sat. special which was a Turkey dinner. It was "melt in your mouth" delicious. I've never had such juicy and tender turkey. Also the homemade dressing was very good also. Don't forget to try the pies. We tried the chocolate peanut pie and also the lemon - AWESOME

Longest we have had to wait is about 15 Mins. My husband says they have the best liver and onions. Not my taste . I like the roast.

The Blue Gate always has excellent food. We come here often and I don't think I can recommend just one thing. This time, it was a Friday, and we had the AUCE Fish. So good.

The Amish meals at The Blue Gate restaurant are absolutely fantastic. Served home style, the ham, roast beef, and fried chicken, along with the mashed potatoes and vegetables are unmatched. The home pies are amazing. Accompanied by a show in the Blue Gate Theater, it makes for a wonderful evening.

We had excellent food at the Blue Gate. Jailyn did a great job serving us. They have so many types of pie it is difficult to order just one kind. Their chicken and noodles are to die for! I definitely recommend this restaurant!
