We stopped at the Coachman for dinner. Our waitress at first seemed very attentive, bringing us our drinks and taking our order. I ordered the fish and chips and my wife ordered the char-broiled chicken breast. When the fish and chips were delivered I asked for some malt vinegar. The waitress said she would bring it along with my wife's... More

My husband and I have been going to Coachman for many years. We have never had a bad meal. Service is good, and fun to go with friends. we will often get the baked cod dinner. Very good.

Going to the Coachman gives you the opportunity to eat somewhere that doesn't feel like you are eating at a chain. There are local pictures on the walls and a feeling of homey rustic-ness about it. the food is ok - good but with good company and surroundings it could be a charming evening. Much of it depends on the... More

Independently owned, family friendly restaurant. My wife and I both had filets, which were excellent. Go early to avoid a wait, we arrived at 5:30pm and were seated right away, by the time we were leaving people were waiting-this was on a Tuesday! Needless to say it is very popular with the local crowd.

Very nice place to eat. The food was served on time and was very good. Our choices were very good also. We did have to wait a little longer than we expected to get seated.

Went for dinner on October 31, 2014. Had lived in Florida and I'm very familiar with fish. For $14.99, they said one of the "specials", which is also listed on their standard menu, at the same price, was Blackened Grouper. I ordered it and got what looked and tasted like tilapia, heavily coated with a generic blackened spice. I didn't... More

The restaurant friendly and decent and convenient to the Best Western and many other Plainfield hotels...not gourmet, but OK...a good value for rib roast.

Had eaten here a couple years ago when attending a race with a buddy. So, when my wife and I planned to spend the night in Plainfield on our way down state, I seemed to remember the Coachman worth trying again. Not quite so charming this time around. Needs a freshing-up inside, and while service was friend, a bit pokey,... More

Place needs a physical upgrade. Service is good. Food quality was poor. I had a prime rib with baked potato and green beans. The beef came inside a lake of juices, overcooked. The potato was reheated and the green beans right out of a can heated in a microwave. Wine glass was not very well cleaned. That was it for... More

This place has a great tenderloin, best I've found locally, and it's reasonably priced. Other menu choices are a bit more, but it's a nice restaurant and even has outdoor dining.
