Good food...very poor service

I made this my destination today for a mini-road trip and a special lunch treat to myself. I was flying solo and was seated promptly on the indoor patio.....ice water was left on my table while I visited the ladies room, but once I got back, I think I became invisible as nobody came to take my... read more

It's hard to get to, but worth the trip to return to another era. Whether you stay to eat or not, you'll still enjoy your visit. There is a home brew pup down stairs, a restaurant, cottages and cabins and LOTS of antiques! People ride their horses there, tie up outside to enjoy a brew or food. It's charming and... More

Stopped in on our way through for breakfast. It was so good! Banana and granola pancakes yum! Heard a lot about this place and now I get to see it. Staff was super great and even got to walk around and see the place. Super cool looking. Definitely be back!

I had a wonderfully prepared steak, perfectly trimmed and cooked just right, with garlic mashed potatoes and fresh green beans delicately cooked. I've eaten lots of expensive steaks, but none better than this one. Very nice cheese plate as an appetizer with homemade crisps, and a fantastic salad made with greens grown in the Inn's gardens, which in and of... More

Went for our anniversary dinner on 8/7. Was one of two best anniversary dinners I have ever had. I got duck which was cooked perfectly along with cheese grits. Rose wine from brown count winery was to die for. Husband got bison - also perfectly cooked. He had sweet tea which was best we ever tasted. Red dragon cheese on... More

I visited The Story Inn on a recent trip to Indiana, it was highly recommended by a friend who ate there 10 years ago. The place is 10 miles from the main highway on a narrow two lane state road. As you travel down the road you keep saying this place is in the middle of nowhere. What a pleasant... More

Hello Mac, Thank you for your review, and making the trip to visit Story. We typically pride ourselves on our locally raised, house smoked pork, but we clearly missed the mark this time. I apologize for the subpar meal you received, and look forward to redeeming ourselves on your next visit. Please feel contacting me directly prior to your next... More

We were biking the back roads of Brown County and stumbled upon Story. We got The Best Breakfast Sandwich and Grilled Artichoke Sandwich. Both were excellent. Our only complaint was it was very cold in the restaurant, although we were wet from biking 20+ miles in 90*weather.

We visited The Story Inn on the 4th of July. We had a group of 11 which was not a problem at all. We only had to wait about 5 minutes to be seated. The restaurant upstairs in really neat, the downstairs bar was packed and a little stuffy. We got our food quickly and it was all pretty good.... More

We rode here on the motorcycle, great scenery. The restaurant is in an old, refurbished General store. Our lunch was very good. I had the grilled artichoke sandwich, hubby had tenderloin. Both came with generous serving of fresh, hot fries, and slaw. Interior is decorated with lots of old time memorabilia, yet the tables are set with cloth napkins, real... More

You can't beat the Story Inn for ambience. An ancient grocery store transformed into an ancient feeling restaurant. It is set in the country, has tons of outdoor (and indoor) seating and a diverse group of patrons, from foodies to folks on horseback and motorcycles. For a long time it was our favorite restaurant, but then got inconsistent. Eventually we... More
