I've been coming to Lake Shafer my whole life and have never had such a lovely, well prepared and thought out meal! The salmon, steak, pasta, and pork medallions were cooked perfectly with delectable seasonal sides and fantastic service from the hostess, wait staff, and kitchen. The view is scenic, the dining room ambiance quiet and classy, and the attention... More

We enjoyed a lovely dinner on the deck overlooking Lake Freeman. Tried something I had never had before: Fried Pickles! Everything was delicious - not fancy, but just good quality food prepared well. Band was setting up to play at 7pm - we didn't get to stay for that, but it was a beautiful evening and I'm sure it was... More

The restaurant is good whenever we eat there. We have eaten in the bar area, outside and in the main dining room. The food is delicious. I recommend the boneless chicken wings on Monday. Daytona sauce is really very good. I also like the house fish dinner. I actually have never had anything bad here and the service is good... More

I would actually rate this place 4.5 stars, but that is splitting hairs. Many memories here of fine dining as a youngster with family. Eating family style walleye dinners was an awesome experience that has stuck with me for many years. Now as an adult I have visited here numerous times. Experienced the beauty of the outdoor dining facilities, the... More

Definitely the place to go at least once, when visiting Monticello. Food has been better in the past than now, but they still offer a perfect location, a good bar, entertainment some nights and a classy facility. They have outdoor seating in good weather overlooking the lake and a pleasant fireplace in the winter. Service is sometimes spotty, as they... More

We visited this restaurant last week during our visit to Indiana Beach. It was a quick and easy drive, with plenty of parking. There is a great deck, but no umbrella's so we decided to eat inside and by the window. The view of the water was great. The young staff was very attentive and helpful. The food was good.... More

A group of 24 took the dinner/cruise on July 18th..along with what I assume was about 100 + other people who paid $70 each for this evening...our 24 were the last to go to the buffet table as we were directed and we were left with no chicken and no mashed potatoes.. We had boiled shrimp with no sauce and... More

Our weekend luncheon party of 7 people joined a full dining room this Sunday. Adjacent dining rooms and the outdoor deck were all busy. Food service was on the slow side, which I would have attributed to the crowd, until I read other Trip Advisor reviews and realized this is a trouble spot. With a little one in our party,... More

Waited 40 min to be seated. No one else waiting and 4-6 tables open? Idk. Ordered potato skins. Dry, tasteless. Bacon was undercooked on skins. Ordered cordon bleu. It was a Piece of ham with cheese on it, sitting on top a piece of chicken breast. It was over cooked, dry and breading was so hard I couldn't chew it.... More

I live in Indianapolis and we drive up for dinner the last time we were in it took 45 minutes to get a drink from the bar. I would like to have had a manager at least stop by and apologize for the slow service the restaurant was not that busy. Luckily the food was delicious like always.
