Location: nice neighborhood, ample parking by resturant Time we dined: 12 noon on a wednesday. No other diners Space: It is a small resturant with seating for about 40 people. Waitstaff: My criteria for good waitstaff is someone who gets the order right and makes sure the water is kept filled a sparkling personality is not needed. Our waitress met... More

There are plenty of chain restaurants in this area. Not many Thai. This is a very good one for our area. If it was in Chicago or San Francisco, then it would probably be 3 stars. But for here it's fantastic. Highly recommended for locals. Don't worry about the server - she acts a bit grumpy but she's really ok!... More

It's hard to find many decent restaurants in the South Bend area (considering it is home to a major university); however, we accidentally found this restaurant while driving through Indiana on our way north. We arrived mid-afternoon; and since there was a lull between lunch and dinner, we were able to spend time talking to the owner. She had no... More

The Pad Thai was very bland - tasted like catsup or barbecue sauce based. We ordered the Pad Kee Mao at a 3 out of 5 hot scale and were overwhelmed by the spice - and we love spicy food. Could not finish the dish. The My Choice was good as well as the chicken fried rice, interestingly enough. The... More

My husband and I love the food here. The restaurant is small, but nice/casual. Their spices are hot which I like, but if you don't, ask for very mild. You always add more heat.

Very good Thai from authentic Thai people! Appears to be mother (cook?) and daughter. Very friendly and willing to answer questions. Just a cautionary note--we went 3* (we had been told they make things hot) and were surprised at how hot the dishes really were. We could have done 2* which is surprising since we like spicy food. Fried Spring... More

If you haven't tried Khun-Daeng Thai Kitchen, you are missing what (in my opinion) is Michiana's BEST Thai restaurant. Tucked away on a side street just South of McKinley, Khun-Daeng is housed in an unassuming brick building. Don't let the building fool you, when you walk inside, you are greeted warmly and transported to a family dinner in Thailand. I... More

Look no further for awesome Thai food in the South Bend area. The food is delicious, probably the best Pad Thai I've had anywhere. I asked for my food not too highly seasoned, and it was done perfectly. The soup was divine, flavorful with just the right sweetness from the coconut milk. The mother-and-daughter owners want you to enjoy your... More

Khun Daeng is by far my favorite restaurant in the South Bend area, and as far as Thai food is one of the best in the country. I travel for business and find myself eating at many Thai restaurants in the country, even went to a Thai place in DC that was featured on the Food Network's Show Down with... More

We had lunch there at noon, but there's no lunch menu. Dinner prices all day, an interesting concept. Our server was Miss Personalty, not. She must be the owner's child. This place is rather dark, dingy, and dilapidated. We were the only customers in the restaurant all during lunch. We ordered the Thai Spring Rolls, they were overdone. The Panang Curry... More
