I had a memorable meal, served both family style...the hot dishes just keep coming, or you may choose from the menus. After waddling away! We walked the in tire area, the shops were perfect, with something for everyone. And lastly to the Essenhaus bakery! Where we loaded up on fresh baked bread and pies!! I know I still groan at... Had the buffet dinner and what a meal it was. For all you can eat at $12.95 you can't complain. The salad bar was stocked with everything you would want to add to your salad and then more. The hot part of the buffet was delicious from fried chicken, roast beef, ribs and turkey with plenty of sides to choose... More

The restuarant offeres an all you can eat buffet, as well as menu dining. I went with friends, and we chose the buffet. There was a salad bar, a choices of soups and then the main buffet. There were several meats, and side dishes. The broasted/ fried chicken was quite good, as were the cheesy potatoes. The chicken flavored noodles... More

A good choice if you are visiting Shipshewana. We recently had a family reunion and chose this as our restaurant. The food is very filling and offers a lot of what I think of as comfort food. Their shoo y pie is my teenage daughters favorite. They also offer baked goods, and amish noodles, etc in the attached shop. The Inn which... More

It was a busy Wednesday after the Shipshewana Flea Market. Difficult to find parking even. As I was a single, I was invited to eat at the lunch counter. They have daily specials and a full menu. Everything is good! Had to stop at the bakery too. Their pies are outstanding. Crumbly crusts and great fillings!

We stayed in Shipshewana on our way to Michigan. A friend had suggested meeting us at Essenhaus; however, when the time came he could not make it. Since we did not remember where we had eaten the last time we went through this town we decided to go where he had originally suggested we meet. We were sure glad we... More

I had not eaten here in years so we stopped in for dinner and it is as good as it used to be. We had the buffet and they have a nice selection of food. I tried the steak and it was so tender that I could cut it with my fork. We had a 20 minute wait but it... More

We ate at the Das Dutchman Essenhaus on July 4th. We were staying at the Essenhaus Inn, and were glad that the front desk can call in a reservation. We were seated immediately and opted for the buffet, instead of the family style serving. The food was delicious, though my husband said he was disappointed, only in the fact that... More

The family style, the buffet or the regular menu are all good choices. The pies are wonderful. Stop by the bakery to pick up a treat to take home.
