In all of my life I have never been treated so disrespectfully and rudely! The menu was not familiar so we were asking questions about different food items. I thought you could do that in a restaurant. The owner seemed put out. They brought us a coke and a beer. When my husband asked for a glass for his beer,... More

This place is a hidden gem. It is unique ad it is very flavorful without all the grease of the other places around. The enchiladas poblanos are very good. My wife lives the beeg soup and the shrimp cocktail. When I have money the seafood fajitas are fantastic. However, the best burrito in town is their enchilada burrito. The flavor... More

The restaurant has actually moved from the Underwood location to 6 Earl Ave. in Lafayette in the farthest south stall of the strip mall. This move was definitely a great idea as the new location is decorated much better and more homey. Another plus to the move is they now have a full liquor license, allowing for Margaritas I have... I was born and raised in Houston, TX and was excited by several of the reviewers that raved about the freshness and authenticity for El Chicano, but this was a bit of a disappointment. When my wife and I first arrived there was no host or hostess and we didn't see any servers standing around, so we simply sat ourselves... More

I'm from Honduras, and this is the first place I've been where I feel at home. This is not a "fancy" restaurant with "fake" Mexican food.... its food is as authentic as its owners. It's a family owned business where all of them are involved and prepare the best Mexican food in town. They serve fast, affordable and most importantly... More

Being from Texas, I am very particular about my Mexican food and how fresh and real it is. El Chicano's food is fresh and you won't find hard, stale chips. The enchiladas are great, the salsa's HOT!, and I love their Micheladas. The only thing lacking is the atmosphere, but I talked to the owner and he's doing something about... More
