More than famous tamales!!!

Last night we discovered the second location for The Tamale Place and loved it. Today we seized the opportunity to have lunch at the original location. Saw this little gem on Diners, Driveinn and Dives. Thought..what the heck...its a nice day...why not drive over two hours for a tamale....so we did. WOW. Everything is homemeade. I like spicy food, so had the chipolte chicken tamale...and a beef taco. Both were excellent. Now this is not your average Americanized taco or tamale...This is the real deal. Also... More

We saw this place on Diners Drive-in's and Dives and had to try it. The food is great, the hot salsa is HOT and the staff is great. I had no idea that there was a location in the City Market. I was pleasantly surprised to see them there today when I was down town on business. My husband and... More

We took everyone's recommendation and had the pork tamale and steak taco. The tamale was delicious, moist, and bigger than expected. The steak taco had a ton of flavor. We would absolutely recommend this place. The only reason we didn't give 5 stars was because they were out of several tamale types, so that was a little disappointing...although understandable.

They have a huge selection of tamales, but if you don't get there early, they run out of some options. I've tried a few different things other than tamales. The only thing I cared for was the steak tacos. Those are darn good. It's always packed and they use patio furniture and picnic tables inside. Definitely went the cheap route... More

Ok, first... my wife loves your tamales, so whenever we get the chance, we have to go. Me, I'm partial to the steak tacos... just spectacular. oh, and the nachos ... I can barely finish a half order. A word from my wife: If you want tamales, call in and order early. They get taken fast... and for good reason

Really? I can't believe this place is in Indy! We travel a lot & this place cannot be overlooked. The Spicy Pork Tamale is delicious. They taste like our homemade ones but they are huge. They must weigh about 1/2 lb each. No kidding. I truly wasn't expecting the Tamales to be as good as the Tamales that we turn... More

I recently visited The Tamale Place, and I have to be honest, I've never had tamales before. This restaurant offered a pretty relaxed, easy introduction to them. They only make a certain number of tamales each day, and when they're gone, they are gone. At the counter, there is an electronic screen that highlights how many of each type of... More
