Great Tamales!

We saw this place on an episode of Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. Tried it for lunch and it was fantastic! We've been back on several occasions. However, get there early because they will run out off the more popular tamales.

I saw this place and heard about it through various reviews so decided to try it during a business trip in Indianapolis. It is a "dive" but it is a dive worth visiting. I am from Texas and have always loved homemade tamales. The Tamale Place has the best tamales I have ever had, Period! They come wrapped in husks... More

Came across this place while searching the web for a place to eat so I gave it a try. I have spent many years in central and northern Mexico and love Tamales. The tamales here are great even if the restaurant's appearance is just so-so. My only complaint and really this isn't a negative is that the tamales were to... More

We had a variety of the different tamale's at our table and the chirizo (sp?) was my favorite! Get there early because if they run out of the version you wanted you'll be sorry!

They have a wonderful selection of handmade, delicious and Interesting flavored tamales that may or may not be on the menu the next time you stop in since they are made in small batches by hand and then properly cooked. Speaking with one of the cooks, they told me It takes about two days to make a tamale (I don't... More

Last night we discovered the second location for The Tamale Place and loved it. Today we seized the opportunity to have lunch at the original location. It was busier & smaller than the south side place but the food was every bit as good as Guy Fieri said on his TV show. Today we tried more menu items: two different... More

Saw this little gem on Diners, Driveinn and Dives. Thought..what the heck...its a nice day...why not drive over two hours for a tamale....so we did. WOW. Everything is homemeade. I like spicy food, so had the chipolte chicken tamale...and a beef taco. Both were excellent. Now this is not your average Americanized taco or tamale...This is the real deal. Also... More

We saw this place on Diners Drive-in's and Dives and had to try it. The food is great, the hot salsa is HOT and the staff is great. I had no idea that there was a location in the City Market. I was pleasantly surprised to see them there today when I was down town on business. My husband and... More

We took everyone's recommendation and had the pork tamale and steak taco. The tamale was delicious, moist, and bigger than expected. The steak taco had a ton of flavor. We would absolutely recommend this place. The only reason we didn't give 5 stars was because they were out of several tamale types, so that was a little disappointing...although understandable.

They have a huge selection of tamales, but if you don't get there early, they run out of some options. I've tried a few different things other than tamales. The only thing I cared for was the steak tacos. Those are darn good. It's always packed and they use patio furniture and picnic tables inside. Definitely went the cheap route... More
