Half pound tamales enough said. Quality and quantity. Get there early to have your choice of all of their varieties. Also, expect a line at lunch as this is a great place to eat in or carry out.

This is a very simple, clean, no-frills establishment with superb food. It is run in a cafeteria style, in that you order in one spot and pay for and pick up at the other end of the counter. They maintain a big screen inventory board tied to their ordering stations such that you can see exactly what of their wide... More

The Tamale Place was excellent. It was my first time eating here. Located in a small shopping center on the west side of Indy, right off I-465. The restaurant has a very fun vibe with bright purple and lime green colors on the walls. When you first walk in there is a screen to the right of the counter that... More

As the others noted - get there early. We went on a Sunday about 11:30 (they open at 11) and by the time we were done (12:30pm) - they were running out of some. We tried a number of the tamales and they were all unique - i was not crazy about the beef in red sauce but there was... More

Neat set-up where you have to get there early to get exactly what you have in mind. They close when the food is gone, and that used to happen all the time. Try one you know you like and try a second, I bet you'll like it, too. Always something new on the dessert tamales. We went all the way... More

This particular establishment was featured on Food Network's Diners Drive-ins and Dives. The food is awesome. I had the Chipotle Chicken Tacos. On the down side, the venue is kinda small so if don't get there at the right time, you'll be taking your food to go.

The savory tamale's we tried tonight were EXCELLENT! The sweet ones were ok, wouldn't get them again, but well worth trying. Will be back.

I'm a tamale junky and try them anywhere around the country that I can find them on a menu. These are consistently the best I've ever had.

I had the spicey green pork tamale and recommend it if you like a little heat. Also shared a chocolate tamale for desert. Good stuff.

I've never been a fan of tamales so I was a little hesitant to visit the tamale place. Although, once I did I tried the tacos and they were amazing! Great price and very filling! My boyfriend enjoys tamales and said they were good as well. Defiantly with stoping by.
