Food and Ambiance = Eh; Service = Great

This is a fairly traditional old-school diner. Nothing appears to have been updated since sometime in the 1970s and everything has that general coating of diner sludge (sticky floors, sticky tables, dusty window sills with several dead flies, etc.). My husband ordered the beef and noodles, which he... read more

Great coffee, generous portions and willing to accommodate dietary requests and adjust sides to meet our preferences. Service was attentive, but not pushy. Thankful establishments like this still exist.

Was on a road trip with the in-laws. The father-in-law is a fan of Diners, Drive Ins and Dives, so we tried to hit a few. The decor at the Steer In is pretty basic. But you can't eat decor. You can eat their excellent food! The owner saw that we primarily ordered items featured on the Triple D episode... More

Generous portion with potatoes - $6. Good coffee - $2. Great setting out of the 50s and nice servers. Hope this place last another 50 years.

The typical Saturday breakfast in a diner: 2 eggs over easy, sausage links, short stack (2) of pancakes, and a gallon of coffee. You can't go wrong at the Steer Inn - the staff were great (unlike another review) and the food just like mom's. Now if Indy only had a decent local newspaper to read while eating - the... More

We went because Guy Fieri told us to, again... I am a huge lover of homemade beef and noodles. My grandma used to own a restaurant and always made it for us when we were kids and I make her recipe now. So I'm a little critical and possibly biased in my judgement. I ordered Steer In's beef and noodles.... More

First time here. Saw it on Triple D and had to check it out. Not disappointed. Service was marginal...but the food was excellent. Prices were cheap. Had breakfast...my girlfriend had a sandwich. Again...very, very good. We'll be back.

If you are looking for the Ruth Chris experience, this is not it. However, if you want good food at a good price, eat here. The meatball sub has some of the most flavorful marinara sauce you can imagine. The meatballs are tasty and the bun was good. My brother had a hamburger which was cooked to perfection and contained... More

As the title says everyone from the cooks, servers, and hostess screamed "we don't care about you, we don't care about your jobs!" When I came in I was greeted with an annoyed grimace of the hostess. As I waited to be seated the hostess looks at me and says in a rude tone "sit anywhere". She seemed thoroughly annoyed... More

We were visiting Indianapolis for the weekend and had found this restaurant because of it being on Food Network, DDD's. It is a bit rundown and food was okay, just not as spectacular as we had expected. Both had steaks, onion rings and coleslaw. The food came out extremely fast but the onion rings were so large and so heavy... More
